    Kill switch ideas?

I really hate car alarms, they always seem to be waking me up because people forget about them, or a cat, possum, raccoon, or dog jumps and sets it off. I drive most every day, so I had a blinking red led bulb put into my dash(it blinked when the ignition was off). Every time the car set the...

No one has a practical use for dually split rims anymore, right?

I am really surprised that in 2020 is even asking about this. I had some on a '69 longhorn pickup and could not find anyone to install tires on those rims - and that was 1975/76.

    TBI Headers?

Use grade 8 or get a set from gm, grade 5 are too soft and the heat will almost weld them in. I would also use some kind og graphite grease coating, steam fitter's "Never Seize" or something similar. You can also put some on the gasket so it won't bake on. #0 years as a pipefitter/boilermaker...

Would 12 volts on a 6 volt system kill your ignition system if its not converted?

You can fry the points and condenser sending 12v to them. As I recall, even late 60s vehicles used a resistance wire before the power to the points and condenser. The HEI units need 12v, but the stock units should not.

I may have to sell the Burb

I have a 91 Suburban Big block that was made for hauling travel trailers I may have to sell. I was going to put a new radiator in and then the trans went. It is white with grey interior, just under 150k miles and I have owned it since 2004. It is in good shape for 30 years old, but getting...

Heater core repair-not replacement-any ideas that work?

replacement heater cores are $23 to under $50. I would bypass it and save up for a core and hose clamps.

    unjunking the quadrajunk

2 barrel Bill must have been an old timer, like the guys that would run a high decked Chevy 6 truck motor...... Those guys knew that HP is only a number and that torque wins races. The only problem here is that setup is as bad as a Holley, you won't drive past many gas stations.

    H - Pipes

But really.... even a 2" crossover pipe on the 3" setup would work much better than nothing. We called it an equalizer tube back in the day and it uses both muffs for a smoother sound and is supposed to allow it to wind up faster.

    What to do...

I was going to say fuel system problem. A low tank with a crud filled filter, cracked pickup tube/clogged sock, and a fuel pump that has poor action because of age, will drive you crazy. When you go uphill (or on the side of a high crown road), the system may not get enough fuel to the carb...

    Can this be welded?

Overheated piece of stainless steel with a tubing thickness. It is a lot of work to remove and replace and stainless is very hard to weld properly. I am sure many will argue, but for my money, I would buy the new part and install it.

    Car seat?

I would think that having the car seat in the middle of a burb(like my 91) would probably be as safe as any car on the road today. The weight of the suburban, the placement of the car seat would mean more safety for the child - maybe not so much for whatever you hit or hit you, but physics is...

    Fuel Tank Size

Just go into Mexico and you will see that you can put more fuel in any vehicle you own. It you have a 16 gallon tank? No problem, they can put 89L in there with room to spare.
