Remote mount transmission cooler location question

I did an under truck mount on my M1031 but it had a flatbed. It had a 700R4 and the extra cooling is a must for that transmission. I used that same Derale cooler.

Thanks everyone, please excuse my ignorance to the crossover setup for these trucks. I'm just not familiar with it. Now I know what I have. Again thanks to everyone for the valuable information. Wayne.

Yes, there is an S bend in it. I think because of the 6 in lift, the drag link is on a pretty steep angle. I might need a deeper pitman arm.

So here's the deal. It is crossover steering. As I remember now, my M1031 had the stock drag link. I do need the drop pitman arm. When I tried to center the steering wheel after I put the Borgeson steering shaft in it, it makes contact with the crossmember. Here's some pics.

From what I gather, it corrects steering geometry.

Hey Bruce, how do I tell if it is a 2wd box? It is a hydroboost setup. I don't know if it's relevant or not.

A farmer used if to pull a gooseneck hay trailer. In sure it was in the mud. I have a dually conversion for it with 245/70 19.5 tires going on it. It should be a lot less abusive to the axle.

I think the 37s on this truck wasted the front axle.

It looks like the first picture. I can't understand why someone would go through the trouble of putting a crossover setup on a truck and neglect the axle to the point of needing a complete rebuild.

Ok so if it is a crossover setup, the drag link isn't where it's supposed to be. It's behind the tie rod on the right knuckle instead of crossing over it. That could explain the bend in the drag link. It was apparently installed wrong going on what you have described. No wonder it steers like...

I believe it's the stock setup with the pitman arm going to the right side knuckle. The axle needs to be rebuilt, and the ring and pinion are go7ne due to lack of maintenance by the po. I bought the new axle with the intent on swapping it in. The axle is identical to the one Craig pictured.

Thanks Craig, do I need a different box ? The pitman arm on mine is parallel to the frame in the neutral position.

Gentlemen, can the pitman arm be removed and reinstalled 90° from it's stock position, or is it spline specific to it's position on the shaft. I have a complete front axle to be installed but it apparently takes the short drag link to the left knuckle instead of the long one to the right side...

LOL, everyone makes mistakes. bam 6972 on YouTube has a testing procedure on the TPS wiring harness that addresses voltage and ground parameters.

Welcome, are you using an aftermarket TPS, or is it an oem GM part?

Yeah really though, I wouldn't buy another set of JBA headers. Btw they were shorty headers. Don't know about you, but I'd like to be able to change out plugs without making a project out of it.

Welcome, looks like you have a good project going. I replied to your header question. Regarding cutting wires to a computer? Your truck was not equipped with a computer from the factory. It does have a carburetor right?

    1984 K10 305 Headers

I would go with stainless steel shorty headers. Whatever you do, stay away from JBA headers. I put a pair on my 97 Z71 and I never noticed how close they were to the spark plugs. They fit perfectly, but unless you are willing and loosen them to change the plugs they were fine.
