Thanks for letting me join. I have a 84 K10, that my dad bought new, it has seen better days! I have never redone a Truck, but have restored many cars, GTO's, firebirds, Cutlass's, Skylarks, and so on. I don't think this will be a restored to factory specification. The truck was my dad's for about 15 years, then it went to my brother for about 10 years, then my brother passed away, then it set in my back yard, until now. the wires have been cut for computer, all the smog stuff is gone.( all done by my brother ) . so I'm thinking of a nice truck, without all that stuff! I have been told that the computer controls the overdrive transmission, but some how my brother must have gotten around that . So I have a long way to go.

Welcome, looks like you have a good project going. I replied to your header question. Regarding cutting wires to a computer? Your truck was not equipped with a computer from the factory. It does have a carburetor right?

It had a Holley , but ran bad, no choke. there are wires cut at firewall, to the right (passengers side ) by heater box.

Howdy!

Those cut wires were just for the electronic spark control. They run through the firewall to an ecm-looking little box.

Are they needed?
