Truck is a 1990 GMC suburban v1500. 5.7 244k. It's an auction vehicle and I'm having a hard time getting it to run properly. It drives fine under very light throttle pressure but big down under harder throttle. It does not drive over 50mph, just constantly down shifts and loses power.
Hooked up OBD1 and get a code 22. I didn't bother checking volts or anything just changed the TPS. Same code. Checked volts. I've got constant 5 volts, 12 at ground and then .02 at closed throttle. No movement of volts with moving the throttle.
So now I'm thinking my new TPS is bad out of the box, got another one, same thing.
Figured it must be the wiring, changed the pigtail out. Same thing.
Any help would be appreciated. I feel it's something simple I'm missing but I'm pulling hair out trying to figure it out.

Welcome, are you using an aftermarket TPS, or is it an oem GM part?

Ok here's an embarrassing update. It's an aftermarket unit. The little metal tab that sits on the outside of the throttle linkage was underneath it. As the throttle opened the TPS stayed stationary not allowing it to do its job. Ugh. What a headache. The tab is supposed to travel with the throttle and I had it so it couldn't. Jeez. No wonder I couldn't find any threads with exactly my problem.

LOL, everyone makes mistakes. bam 6972 on YouTube has a testing procedure on the TPS wiring harness that addresses voltage and ground parameters.
