    454 TBI lack of power

Ok, just putting it out there to see if anyone has any ideas here. As the title suggests, 454 TBI. Starts and idles fine and accelerates smoothly under light throttle, but get 1/2 throttle or more and it seems to bog down and not deliver as much power as it should(had more power available...

What have you done to your square lately??

Had to drop the fuel tank from my burb as the fuel pump decided that its pumped enough fuel and called it quits.

I think I need a new fuel pump

yep all sorted for now, just playing the waiting game for parts now.

I think I need a new fuel pump

oh, forgot to add, yes the SES light self tests fine, no fault codes logged.

I think I need a new fuel pump

No nothing happened when applying 12v at the test lead. I've just finished dropping the tank and pulled the pump - applying 12v from a battery directly to the pump and still nothing so looks like its dead

I think I need a new fuel pump

Ok, 454 TBI Suburban. Was running fine (but down on power last time it was running). Hasn't run for a while due to replacing water pump, fuel filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, crank pulley (no running due to waiting for parts). Anyway finally got everything back together tonight and go to fire...

    50W in a 454?

I wouldn't use a monograde oil in any engine. I personally use a 15W/40 Valvoline in my vehicles

    Post your interiors

I kinda like those red interiors

    Look what followed me home.

They look even better with triple SU or webber carbs hanging off them:favorites37: Yep the holden engine is physical smaller from what I've read on the interweb comparing the two.

    Look what followed me home.

Over here in Australia Holden (GMH) made an series of inline 6's in 149, 161, 173, 189 and 202ci. Those chev 6's look very similar and would make an awesome replacement engine for some of our lightweight cars. I think they may have been based from the chev design in the first place being a GM...

Show me your 8 lug wheels!

Yeah, nah. This is staying as a 2wd as I don't need a second 4wd. Plus its too much hassle with the rego authorities to convert it here - engineering certificates, approvals etc.... required

Show me your 8 lug wheels!

Im not the biggest fan of them myself. But they where whats on it when I brought it so I'll run with them for a little while until I can afford something else

Fix Slamming Doors - Striker Door Latch Repair

Thanks for the post, I have to slam the passenger door on my burb so I'll be defiantly looking at this.

Show me your 8 lug wheels!

These are mine - I have no idea what they are, but they appear to be a 16x6 (maybe 7" wide?). I'd really like to eventually go a bigger rim with some wider tyres

1987 suburban 7.4 TBI stock manifold delete

thanks to the OP - I've been thinking the same regarding my burb. I eventually want to replace the stock exhaust manifolds and put a full system on. The big girl is just way to queit as it currently sits and needs to sound more like a V8

    Burb rear bumper impact trim

I was actually thinking about eventually putting in some clear tail light lenses and having everything internal inside the lens. If no one makes a new impact trim then I'll just replace the rear (and front) bumpers with full chrome jobbies

    Burb rear bumper impact trim

It not a GM spec. Its been done by who ever imported it to meet aus standards. We cant have red for indicators as it was originally so some amber indicators have had to be added Sent from my GT-S7275Y using Tapatalk

    Burb rear bumper impact trim

Thanks for that, I had a look through LMC earlier but couldn't find anything at the time, hence the question as I thought if those guys don't have it then who would Mine is a one piece trim, I'll post up a pic a little later when I'm home from work

    Burb rear bumper impact trim

Due to our local standards here my burb has some extra indicators that have been added to the rear bumper. This has required a cutout to the bumper and the impact strip that goes onto it. On of the indicators has some damage to the lens so most likely wont pass the roadworthy checks so I was...

Any way to identify year of production?

Your right it was a grey market conversion from LHD to RHD. The dash is a complete fibreglass unit so looks to have been made from scratch
