I put a low mile 292 in a 83 silverado with 3.42 gears and a slight stall converter. That engine was a ox. It pull trailer just as good if not better than the original 350 did.

Over here in Australia Holden (GMH) made an series of inline 6's in 149, 161, 173, 189 and 202ci. Those chev 6's look very similar and would make an awesome replacement engine for some of our lightweight cars. I think they may have been based from the chev design in the first place being a GM company

Would have been an excellent engine in the Torana that I sold to buy my squarebody, at only 1000kgs in weight they where a quick car in their day with only a 200hp 202:

Those straight sixes are excellent engines, both the 250/292's and the older 235/261's. I have heard from many people that back in the mid to late 50's when the SBC came out that the 235's would pull hard from the line and smoke tri-fives with 265 small blocks in stoplight drags. The later 250's and 292's are awesome too. My GF's uncle bought a 71 C50 grain truck with a 292 and sm465 and was told by the seller that they had a ford grain truck with a 292 Y-block and both were loaded full of hogs and the Chevy pulled the ~10% grade whilst the ford couldn't make it up the hill.

Nice find on the 292! The 250 six in my 82 had the integrated head/manifold and was getting a little tired. Would have been cool to find a 292, but I gave up and went with a 350. Sometimes I wish I would have rebuilt the 250 and converted to the earlier head and manifold.

The Holden engine looks like a Chevy with its 4-exhaust port head, although I wonder if the block is a little shorter.

Cool looking car, too! A little over 2000 pounds with 200 horsepower? Kind of like a 64-65 Chevy Nova with a 220 hp 283. Lots of Chevelle owners with a 327 or even the base 396 were surprised by what the little 283 would do in a 800 lb lighter car.

Im curious, how can you tell if its an integrated head and when was the change and also wich were better?

They look even better with triple SU or webber carbs hanging off them

Yep the holden engine is physical smaller from what I've read on the interweb comparing the two.
