If it was for a larger tube, you would have had to squeeze it together
to fit in the holes of the top bracket.
Yet you say "Everything is seated where it’s supposed to be".
I dunno...
Is the rotor turning while cranking?
You haven't said what manifold you replaced the original with?
Make sure distributor boss is the same height as the one you took off.
No experience with one, but everyone talks about how "gutless" a 305 is.
What can be done, fairly easily, to beef it up some to add some torque in
the lower RPM range, and boost HP a bit.
And, is it worth it?
Don't try to use the stock steel rim lug nuts on aluminum rims. They will require longer "acorn" type
lug nuts, especially if the holes in the aluminum rims are countersunk.
You'll have a hard time getting a socket to fit down in the hole. Even a thin wall socket.
Don't ask me how I know.
A few minor changes lately...

I have new longer chrome lug nuts ordered to replace the stock nuts for steel rims.
Didn't think about the standard nuts being so short they would be a pain to put on
and take off.

Trucks don't deserve to be lowered with huge wheels and low profile tires.
I think it just looks stupid!
Do all that to a rice burner or drifter.
