That's a nice '68.
Looks to be the same color of the '70 SS396 I had... Shadow Gray.

I had an 81 C1500 stolen out of my attached garage in 1985(?). The reason I bring it up now is, don’t let the insurance company determine the worth of your vehicle. Declare a value it’s worth to you. Paying the extra rider $$ is a God send when something horrible happens. My present 79 has a “declared value” and is less than $200/yr more.
The 81 story ended with me getting it back half stripped. I had, 6mos earlier, upped the value on the policy to allow for the Corvette engine, stereo, wheels, and custom paint rather than the standard $2500 at that time. The insurance paid every cent to put it back together, actually better.

Sorry to hear about the Truck... but Hell yeah Brother! Damn the truth there, Nobody should be able to tell you what your vehicle is worth when they are not the ones who put all the time and money into it! I will say one thing If you want the best NOS parts are it.

Hard to find though but will bump your price on the truck abnormally high!! Seen one online all original k20 with 35K not bad!
Wonder what an all original 6.2 diesel truck would go for? Nah I wouldn't sell mine. :D

Kim Burke, can you tell us the name of your insurance company or carrier? Most times the agent that you buy from is the greatest help in getting a claim solved.

Hagerty is my insurance company. But I miss the point of the last statement. An agent is instrumental is modifying a policy or getting a claim solved. But if the book value(whatever book the particular carrier uses) says your truck is worth $2500, and the event is a total loss, the agent will be limited to the policy limits.
Well.... that’s my experience anyway. Some here may have a better education on these things.

Your local agent can influence settlements, if the adjuster's valuation isn't in line with the actual values. I and my son both have Hagerty on our relics. My son's Nova was in an enclosed trailer (storage) 2 years ago when we had a ton of snow in a 2 day period and the roof went in. No physical damage to the car but before we found the cave in the Nova developed mildew and some mold. The adjuster came ,looked at it and said it was totaled. My son thought it was settled and agreed to $7500 with him keeping the car. They told him to send them the title and they would send the check. He said NO just send me the check. He did not want a branded title. They went around and around and finally our local agent stepped in and along with the State title inspector they got it done. No branded title and money in his pocket. It is always nice to have someone local to talk to instead of phone call or computers, face to face. Also agents may be limited to policy limits but if they are old long standing they can put some pressure on the issuing company .

That is a good looking Chevelle. Don't see a lot of 68's around ,lot of all the others, 64-67, 69-72. Was production down that year? Tell us some history, how long have you had it. Original engine, trans, etc.?

It’s a ‘93 Trans Am. I traded my motorcycle for it about 5 years ago. It had about 70,000 miles on it. Maybe 90,000 now, I don’t remember.

It’s my understanding that ‘68 was an oddball year there’s lots of stuff that’s different than the ‘69’s. First year of the body style maybe?

It was my mom’s car for 30 years. She bought it in 87 or 88. I’ve owned it for a couple years now. It has a 396 but not the original and I don’t recall if the turbo 400 is or not I kind of recall it isn’t.

You have a very cool MOM. You are right about 68 being kind of a "1" year deal. I bought a new Chevy II and they were the first year body like the Chevelle. I still like the key on the dash!!
