Gm 12 bolt gear pattern help. ?

So your pinion needs to move closer to the ring gear. Keep in mind the gears need to be loaded when checking the pattern. Easiest way I have found, use a pry bar between the housing and the outside edge of the differential or the outside edge of the ring gear. Spin the pinion making the diff...

Gm 12 bolt gear pattern help. ?

Welcome to the forum. Please note the drive side of the ring gear. Your pictures are showing the coast side. The top picture is what you want, drive side. Coast side is just that, coast side not important.

How close are the aftermarket doors?

The reason I asked is because I have 2 NOS GM doors, and 2 more new doors that I don't know if they are GM or aftermarket. Yes, the body guys at work used to re-skin doors just how you described. Now the doors just get replaced, it's quicker. Less people here in the shop, "time is money."

No line pressure to rear disc conversion, no prop valve

Welcome new member! You need to read some of the braking system problems and solutions discussed in these forums. Wrong brake master cylinder made for front disc and rear drum?? 1/4" line to the front disc, 3/16" to rear drums. Front disc needs more flow, rear drums need higher pressure...

    Rear axle replacement

The side and spider gears cavitation is because the gears move in and out of the oil as the diff spins. They push and pull off creating the vacuum that causes the cavitation. The ring and pinion gears are hypoid cut and they slide against each other.

    Rear axle replacement

Okay Taylor, since you brought this old thread back up with some info I didn't know, it also explains why the G80's still failed. Think of the operator that was accustomed to driving with the G80, then it didn't work. Now trying to move the vehicle on ice or whatever and the speedo says 30MPH...

Google search for the list. I also found charts, but I could not save or download. For the list I posted, just copy and paste in a word doc. Then you can print it if you want. If you need help, let me know. Google is your friend. I know some people don't like Google because it will track you. I...

    Hub and rotor help

The rotor should never be loose. On some hub rotor assemblies the studs pressed in hold the rotor tight. On another style the rotor sits on the studs and when you bolt the wheel on, the wheel and lug nuts hold the rotor tight, no movement.

So can someone tell me . . .

6 lug rallies available from GM in 3 different widths. Don't know them all from memory but definitely 3 sizes.

So can someone tell me . . .

How wide do you believe those rallies are? @Buicknut 5 lug rally wheels were available first for 2 wheel drive trucks. The 6 lug 4WD rally wheels a few years later 1975 or '76. Some 1980's 4WD Suburbans had wider rallies, for sure 1985.

    Bulb with black plastic wire

If it is on the right side of the instrument cluster, it is fiber optic line to light up the ashtray. On the left side it lights up the wiper switch (older model than the '90) Early squares had a fiber optic ribbon to light up the wiper switch.

    horn(s)

If the horn buzzes when hooked to power, you can fix it. Horn off the truck, add 12V and a ground wire. While conected to power, tap the horn on the concrete. Horn will start to beep after a couple hits. Couple more hits it will get louder. Stop banging.

Disconnected mystery wire in 1982 C10

We all call it a proportioning valve, but as Rick stated it is a combination valve. Two separate functions, first it will put the brake light on if you have a major fluid leak, front or back. Rust and corrosion can put the light on over time (valve fails) without any fluid loss. The second...
