For those who may know C10 camper special/Big10.
Where does the Aux Battery tray go? Yea, I figured, under the hood, somewhere.
But, where specifically?
I have 4 different manuals and none of them show a location.

Thanks in advance.

1981 C10 6 cylinder, I installed the auxiliary battery tray behind the driver's side headlight. Screw holes already there. OOPS yours is older than mine:

Thanks,
I jumped back on here to say, I found the spot.
I was expecting holes to already be there, but they are not.
There are "dimples" where holes need to be drilled.
I discovwred all of this by taking the battery tray base/support and moving it around the driver's side inner fender until it look similiar to the other tray.
But because there is so much undercoating on everything, the dimples were not obvious. Had to sorta dig for them.

This is gonna be so kewl!

...then I wanted to see how things lined up between the aux tray support and the aux battery tray.
Hmmm...
None of the holes in the support line up with the holes in the tray, which is perched on top.
And if I orient the tray with the 2 holes (which should of line up) with similiar 2 holes in support, the battery clamp is almost touching the core support.
Interesting....very interesting. [Artie Johnson]

...then I looked back in the catelog I ordered the parts from.
Them knuckleheads don't even show any way for the batt tray to attach to the batt tray support, under it.
How freaking lame!
And being that the representation is just a line sketch, it's not like there's a clear view of how everything goes together.
(question directed toward the catelog)...Ok...how in the flying flip do the 2 parts attach to each other.
Magic pink pixie snot?
Aarrgghh!!

What does your aux battery tray bracket look like?

They use the same battery tray as the std battery tray does, on the aux battery the tray is spot welded to the bracket and the bracket is bolted to the fender, core support, and inner fender.

You are spot on.
I just remembered that I had to weld the replacement for the original batt tray.
Once I remembered that, it made sense.
It's not pink pixie snot. It's hot Lincoln glue.
Crisis everted...lol

I believe the auxiliary battery location would have been the primary battery location for the Olds 5.7 Diesel too -- I need one so I can install the Olds 350 in my 85 GMC and let the Chevy engine battery location be the auxiliary battery. Wished it was coming along faster, but life has not been playing kindly as of late.

Take Care,
