    Ball joints

I had the same problem. Soaked everything w PB Blaster for 3 days and still no joy with the bfh. I finally used a torch to heat the flange up, and worked around the perimeter with air hammer using a wide autobody bit like these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BC2PY46J/ Then a couple smacks with the...

    Steering column

I put a FR30106BK in my 1983 Suburban. It has a D output to the intermediate shaft, the splines are for the steering wheel. If you go with this one there are a few things to consider. See my post...

    tilt steering column

Sounds like nylon pin that joins the upper to lower shaft is broken. If you hold the lower end of the shaft in a vise, see if you can move the upper section where the tilt ball is in and out. If so the pin is sheared.

    1987 GMC Suburban

It's not a bad job to do even with engine in the truck. When I got mine years ago the EFE (exhaust butterfly) had failed closed so it basically cooked the lifter and cam. Swapped out the cam and lifters and been running great ever since. For the cam, I did have to remove radiator and cut the...

These look awesome, too bad they don't have a direct fit option for my truck. Wondering if they can be modified to accept A.I.R for the emissions challenged.

    4 Headlight front end Recommendation

I just used these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0896XXLQF/ $149 Price was decent enough and they have SAE and DOT approvals too. Set up was pretty easy using stock harness and they are super bright. To install I needed to change plug pinout configuration to match stock. It was easy with a...

K20 Suburban Flaming River tilt column (also Wolff Engineering bearing)

I was able to get everything hooked up and working, but the Flaming River canceling cam requires modification so the stock wheel and horn will work. It is way too tall and the contact wire wont work for stock. To modify, first place the cam and spacer under the stock wheel. Next, measure and...

K20 Suburban Flaming River tilt column (also Wolff Engineering bearing)

@txaggie, you can install a borgeson u-joint shaft without doing anything else. In my case the upper shaft plastic shear pin separated when removing the old shaft. I had to use a hammer to get the old lower shaft off.

K20 Suburban Flaming River tilt column (also Wolff Engineering bearing)

The upper rubber that covers the space to instrument panel is a bit loose, but the bottom seal fits great as did the OEM shifter linkage grommet. Electrics look spot on except the neutral switch (pin outs are different- OEM wont work either). Will post more as I work it in. Neutral switch...

K20 Suburban Flaming River tilt column (also Wolff Engineering bearing)

Ordered a Flaming River column (https://www.flamingriver.com/catalog/product/view/id/1612/s/fr30106bk-1973-87-gmc-truck-column-shift-tilt-column-black-powdercoat-finish/category/2/) and it came overnight- pricy but nice- does not have the cruise control option, but I never used that anyway so...

K20 Suburban Flaming River tilt column (also Wolff Engineering bearing)

@GMC_Nick it is and its great! But I'm about yank my column as the plastic keeper inside the lower internal shaft (part 41) is broken. Its still snug and likely would be fine- BUT if the inside lower shaft separates from upper shaft esp at hiway speed then game over. Too old to game it ;)

    Rag Joint removal faux pas

@Frankenchevy cool, and it may never be an issue, but I looked up the parts book illustration and it sure looks like there are some plastic bits in that lower shaft- two nylon pins- very similar to the ones in the stock intermediate shaft to the rag joint. Grr. Guess I'll pull the column just to...
