I just installed these pieces to get rid of the brick since it was leaking air over night.

I cannot get the filter to seal against the filter head. Ive cranked it on pretty tight in successive attempts and it continues to leak. google hasnt turned up much to resolve the problem. Its a dorman head unit since I cant find GM stuff. Its almost like the o-ring isnt thick enough. Is that likely?

when I try to install the fuel filter (which is covered in diesel now, so I dont want to grab since Im clean...) it will mount up fine, but leaks between the filter and filter head where the O-ring is supposed to seal it.

I did fill the filter before trying to install, but I cant imagine that was the problem.

this is the head I got

If I remember correctly that O-Ring at the top can easily get misaligned. Most of the filters didn't have a groove for that O-Ring. The Wix plastic filters did and they also had a tapered body vs. the straight wall of the other filters. I ran the WIX for those reasons.

Are you certain that you have all the O-Rings where they are supposed to go? And that the top one is properly aligned? It may be that the filter is just not going on far enough to seat.

I double checked and that is the correct WIX filter you listed.

That set up was my least favorite thing about my '07 Classic LBZ. Otherwise it was a great Truck.

o ring looks like its fine. This is my first time, and directions say to go until oring makes contact and them make additonal quarter turn or something.

My housing feels like it is contact the head before the oring.

Perhaps try opening the bleed screw on top of the housing before you try installing the filter? You might be having trouble compressing the fuel in the pre-filled filter. I never tried to install a pre-filled filter because I would have spilled diesel trying to get it into position. It was a pain to get the filters in and out.

Very odd problem. By chance is your filter threads bent? That's an odd thing to say. But suppose when you threaded it on it only touched tightly on most of it because the threads were shifted sideways if that makes sense? Have you removed filter housing to inspect for cracks or imperfections around sealing surface? Experienced similar issue on a new log splitter filter housing having a defective filter housing
