I bought the Borgeson steering shaft and thought I had a similar problem. Turned out to be a non-issue, so maybe the solution will work... -

OK Retro Honey, just for you. I did some work on this. Actually the sleeve didn't need heated up, I just pryed it apart, it kinda snaps...
