Happened to be looking at CL this morning before work, one of the very first vehicle listings I came across was for this '90 Cavalier Z24. It was a killer deal, IMHO, so my buddy and I went and bought it this afternoon.

Plans are simple, fix it up a little and have fun with it. The wheels will get changed and we would like to lose the luggage rack in favor of a factory spoiler, but everything else is just basic repairs.

I almost bought a light blue one this summer for 500 bucks with a 5 speed, the guy said all that was wrong with it was the brakes weren't very good. Had a factory spoiler too and it had racing stripes lol

That is freaking cool man! There is something about the simple body of cars from that era that I like.

Unfortunately it's an auto. The original owner seems to have checked off all the option boxes. We got it for 300 bucks and it's solid as can be.

Neat-o, Andy! I wouldn't mind finding a Z34 Lumina for a daily driver but I don't have the room for any more vehicles here. I would have to get rid of something and that hurts me.

I found one of those on CL too just the other day! It was somewhere in northern VA, don't remember exactly where. A black '93.

Speaking of Virginia, it turns out you don't have to be a resident to get VA title and tags (that wouldn't ever fly in Ohio) so our Z24 is a legal driver now. Plus it's old enough for antique tags.

We picked up a bunch of parts today, might have time tomorrow afternoon to work on it. The to-do list includes:

Plugs/wires
Harmonic balancer
Inner tierod bushing
Trans pan gasket and fluid

Also need to check fuel pressure and diagnose the inop blower motor.

This has been a fun little car to play around with, it ended up being much more peppy than I was expecting. Not sure what I should do with it though, I think if I keep it, it's just going to sit 90% of the year. And I'd kinda hate to use it as a winter car, it's very very solid.
