Walmart techs...
Can't fault them. Any tire tech will inflate to the vehicle specs, not the tire max specs....which is exactly what they should do. Now, throw off-spec tires on your stuff, then read up on how to visually tell if your tires are inflated properly....Vehicle spec is still the starting point.

Not all just that one. The others were 06. Got 2 new ones today and will get another 2 little later. So what is the recommended psi for these Bfg all terrains? 31/10.5/15

What width wheel are you running 8"? What is the max pressure on the sidewall? 45?

The best way I have heard to figure it out is get the tires warm then use chalk and mark a stripe across the tread on at least 1 front and 1 rear tire. Then drive in a straight line. Keep looking at the tires. If the chalk wears off in the middle first you have too much air. On the outsides? Not enough.

Dam dude says its made in 88... Hell I just popped out 5 years earlier
You must be registered for see images attach

Maybe not, it could have been '98 too. Before 2000, the last digit was only the year and the decade was not specified.

Discount has a corporate policy to not touch a tire that is over 10 years old... And there is no way of telling how out out balance a tire was when it is failed.

If it were me, I'd run 40PSI in those tires. Remember, MAX Pressure is 50PSI. That doesn't mean you run them at 50PSI. That means 50PSI is max pressure. I'd run 40 PSI for my daily driving. If I was going to be carrying a heavy load I might crank it up to 45-50 depending on the load. If you run Max Pressure on a light load, you'll likely get the feel of driving on solid rocks.

The tire was off the truck so that 10 year rule went out the window... The thing only had one small weight on it. The rest of my tires were way off too. What's up with the Wally world defenders :)

I run the exact tires at 45. And yes, it rides a little rough lol, but i have yet to squat the backs.
