Wrong brake calipers?

Got these reman calipers from Autozone and already left my old ones there for cores, so I don’t have them to compare to. Seems like these bumps (where the paint is worn from me pushing hard on them) protrude out so far that they push against the brake dust shield and prevent the holes from lining up for the caliper pins. Are they the wrong calipers? Everything else seems right as far as I can tell.

Are they installed on the correct side? They are a Right and Left fitment.

Yes, each us marked R or L and I made sure they were installed on the correct side. Looks like that nub is not supposed to be there.

There are a few versions of that general casting that effects things like the piston size and such. I think that casting bump is a 2wd but I'm not sure. The part number is probably correct just simply the wrong casting for the application. I'd take them back and swap them for another set. If the next of calipers still has the bump then recheck the part numbers.

You'd know right away if they were on the wrong side because the bleeders would be pointed down.

I just went through the same thing. I got it resolved. Yes, there is a Right and Left fitment, and yes, you can tell because the bleeder must point up. Also note the calipers fit either 2WD or 4WD, not both.

My truck is 1980 K15, so I got calipers for 1980 4WD. This is the same style as @AZ Highlander originally posted. It has that "bump" in the casting. I had the same problem where the bump conflicted with the brake shield and prevented bolt holes from lining up. My attached picture has the bump circled in blue. (Sorry I didn't get side by side pictures or pictures from better angles).

You can see in the LMC manual and other catalogs that one set of 4WD calipers are 1973-1978 and the other are 1979-1983. So I returned the caliper for my 1980 and got the 1973-1978 style (no bump). They slid on no problem. See the other attached picture.

The serial number in the cab of my truck says 1980, but I suspect the chassis (or parts of the chassis) is not 1980.

Also check the brake line hole. Early calipers 73-77ish should be a 7/16" banjo bolt. After 78ish should be 10mm.

Oh yeah, I forgot that I had to very slightly drill out the hole in the brake hose for my slightly larger banjo bolt. "That was sketchy, but worked out really well."
