With that ratio OD is useless and probably never get to OD. I revealed my friends Dodge to 4.10 from 3.55 for that reason. I have 3.73s and 36s and could give 2 ***** about mileage but it’s not a daily.

I agree, probably not hitting OD and if so not locking up. I'd re-gear to at least a 4:56 or higher with 35's on a 700R4. To be honest I am sure his 700R4 is probably about to crap the bed and slipping as well if he has been driving as such for any length of time. With 3.73's I'd bump down to 33's, maybe find a buddy you an swap with for a week or two to do some testing with and see if your transmission finds a new gear, does some lockup, and your mpg's don't jump up surprisingly high.
