My windshield wiper motor is turning continuously in the same direction instead of turning back and forth. I've changed out the motor and have a new switch. Any ideas?

That's how they work. Its the linkage that causes the direction to change.

When I installed it the wipers just kept trying to go down past the point they were able to, even after I changed the position of the arm that bolts onto the motor shaft.

Will the motor park when you shut them off? If not, you may need to clean the park switch. Ifs a 2 wire connector ( purple and gray I think) that is easily removed. Once you get the motor to park correctly, bolt the pivot linkage to the motor with the wipers in the park position. Hope that helps b

You may need to remove the arms and re-position them.

Sorry for the late update. I ended up taking the wiper arms off so that I didn't have to deal with them binding up trying to go down through the cowl and I could see how the mechanism was operating. Noticed the they were turning down then up, instead of up then down. Removed the linkage from the motor, turned the linkage 180 degrees and reattached. Works fine now. Thanks for the help.
