Anyone notice that when searching for a new air compressor the search fields should be by CFM instead of electric or gas or by H.P. or price but rather by CFM?

Ive got a old craftsman with a possible rust risk and have been searching for new compressor but am having a heck of a time finding one.
Every air tool I have ever seen in my life has a CFM rating, so the user / buyer knows whether or not their compressor will support the tool.

Just seems like with so much emphasis on CFM ratings, that would be the first thing to pop up when doing a search for a new air compressor.

High H.P. motor, big tank, Gas or electric, color tank size, or brand of compressor mean nothing if the damn thing will not support a tool.

Am I missing something here?

Good for Home Depot. :)
They have categorized by CFM for their compressors.

Anyone have any experience with Home depot Husky compressors?

I got a Craftsman 80 gallon, 2-piston, oil-less compressor brand new for $480. That was 21 years ago. The only thing I've spent on it was a ball-valve drain and that was put on before I wired it in.

I wish I could afford a 'scroll-type' compressor tho. $1800! Woof!

It is really a royal pain to try to find the CFM ratings on compressors for sale new, which I suspect is because most people see 200 psi and 5 hp (*max developed) and think that its a great compressor. Sears was really bad about overrating their equipment...

like this, 5 horsepower on 120 volt, yeah right. But people see that and think oh wow thats a lot of power.

Ironically I have found that of all places harbor freight is actually one of the more realistic places when it comes to listing specifications on their compressors.
