Whats the best drop kit and/or combination for 20" rims?

You could also install some polyurethane "button" bump stops out back as well, they are very low profile. There's usually some on Ebay. I've never heard that stepside frames have less clearance than fleetsides.

Was told the width in the fender wells were less on a stepside.

Hmmm...that's interesting. I would think they are actually wider then the fleetside.

I have a 5/7 drop on 87 swb. Not sure of the component used. The previous owner installed all of it, also has no c notch. Rides great, no rubs with 17's (soon to be 20x8's and 22x12's). I hauled some junk this past weekend that totaled 2800lbs combined weight of truck load and trailer, and never had any bottoming out issues (was very surprised).
