I did have to check on those rules. It appears 305 would have been the max cu in. The actual max was based on CC measurements, so 5000cc max or 5.0 Litre. 302 and 305 both fall into the 5.0 Litre.

They were streetable... every engine is streetable.

The question is whether the driver can handle the streetable factor of the engine...

I'm sure what's meant by streetable is for being practical in this case. The 302 came with a 30-30 Duntov cam. If you swapped the cam in one, you'd make it much more practical for everyday driving.

I know HR, I know...

Those 302 motors in the Z's were and are completely streetable. I went for a ride in one a couple of years ago. Absolutely docile on the street. Yeah, they didn't have quite the low RPM torque as other motors, but it was not non-existent either. And yeah, they were screamers. Would not hesitate to DD one.

When I made my comment I was thinking of the 2,000hp+ mod motors that are being run during Hot Rod's Drag Week. 6 second cars being driven hundreds of miles on the road without support vehicle help.

That car has to be built and designed for it. You won't see Ashley Force's Ford Funny car on the street. Those guys in drag week also build and design those cars for that trip. Many times race cars have a singe of dual core radiator if they're trailered. I'll assure you, they have full grown maxes out radiators in those cars.

First car was a 1978 VW Rabbit with a 1.5 liter diesel engine 50 mpg that would barely go 65 mph. So far I have owned 9 VW's and 4 Chevy's but currently I have 2 VW's and 3 Chevy's. The transition has started but has not completely won yet.

1972 chevy nova forest green rusted through and through. She rocked a 250 straight six and a warped exhaust manifold that leaked fumes through the holy firewall. Boy she was a tank though! I could not kill the motor and finally the cancer got the best of her and the crusher took her to chevy heaven... rip ole green

That's a fact. Those NON Integral 230/250 I6's would out last a car body and 2-4 transmissions. Can't kill'em. I think alot of that has to do with the 1bbl carbs though.

My first vehicle was a 69 chevy c10 with a 307 originally 3 on the tree converted to a hurst floor shifter. Long bed step side. I had a lot of fun in it and sold it for $500.

The truck I'm restoring now took the place of it when we bought it new in 84.
