Why should I stay away from dynomax? Everyone I talked to on other forums said there a good brand name.

Dynomax exhaust and mufflers are generally low quality stuff that doesn't last long, flow well, or fit good... basically just one step above cheap parts store replacement stuff (but much more expensive). I'm assuming their headers are no better, although I have no personal experience with their headers in the last 10 years or so. They might have improved.

I've been running a Dynomax muffler for ten years, if it ever wears out I'll buy another.

If you get headers, get ones made with the thickest flange material you can find. Warped headers with exhaust leaks are no fun.

What kind? Every Dynomax exhaust/muffler I've had has been lucky to make it two years. I won't go into detail about all of them, but let's just say I gave them plenty of chances to show me they make a decent product. The only thing I'll buy from them are their tailpipes for '82-'92 F-bodies because of their factory-like appearance.

the cheapo's i got from ebay cost less then any other header out there, they have thick flanges thicker then I have seen, and ball end so no gasket down low, definately worth getting. they are shorties and bolt right in place of manifolds, so no cutting and welding.

How far back does your state require testing? I'm riding out stock from the cat forward for at least 2 more years. After that, this emission rip-off will be history, and I'll be looking to go long tube with pipes & mufflers only. Hopefully that won't screw with the TBI???

my 94 doesn't have a cat on it, and it runs great. just need to make sure you put the o2 sensor in, and it'll be fine. might want to convert to a 3 wire o2 sensor if you don't already have one.

because they're not hooker, heddman, or any other name brand that you'll pay more money just for the name. personally, i've had excellent luck with Dynomax and Flowtech both. my DD 94, and my 77 both have Flowtech headers on them now. my the set of headers i had before this, i had Dynomax, and they worked out great.

GD is right I don't have a cat on my 88 and it's fine, no problems, I also have had great luck with flowtech headers and dynomax. The dynomax we had lasted forever and went on 2 trucks. The flowtechs on the monte carlo are still there. They are rusty but don't leak or have holes.

I miss the liftetime warranty exhaust parts. Last time I has lifetime on a vehicle was when Minnike was in town back in 97-98.
