What is the sticker in the glove compartment?

What is this called? Somekind of "Plate"? Mine has always looked like this. I can't remember it looking better than this. I probably would have kept better care of it if it had been in better shape. But you can see part of the vin, "cargo weight", something about '73, when the truck was built. What was this supposed to look like? And what is it called. I may be able to find another one and type the info on it and put it in this one's place. I found a guy on line last night that has developed the same kind of "type" and reproduces these. If he's still around, and I can find what was on this sticker I could at least send him the info. It's not really important to me, I'm not in competition for who's got the most accurate "stock" truck, but like all the other stickers that were on my truck, I did preserve them for history's sake at least.

You can see the area is not big enough for the build sheet some people have talked about being in the glove compartment. That was found by the guy who reupolstered my truck. It was behind the covering of the back of the seat. He saved it for me, he's a car guy and knows the importance of it. I have it in my truck records now. You can see it's not big enough for a build sheet but looking closely at it today I see it has part of the vin number on it, something about "cargo weight" and has something about the year of mfg., whicvh was 1973. It was originally bought in November of '73 which is rthe new car year for '74, so it's a '74.

It's a Camper Loading Information tag, the 73 is a dimension not the year.

Camper special loading info. Although I won't show mine it's pretty unique because it actually has the trucks VIN on the left side! Definitely cool to still have the original.

This is from my 79. It isn't a camper special truck. It's a bonanza package so that could have something to do with it?

I just haven't seen that sticker before on my other trucks, but I'm sure most have been long gone.

I compared mine to yours, and I'll be dang that's exactly what it is, a slide in camper info. sticker. So why are there the differences, like mine says 73 inches. What does that mean, 73 in.? 73 in. for what?
and why the different weights? Like yours [B]@PrairieDrifter[/B] it's 640 lbs., and [B]@Kieth Seymore[/B] is showing one that's 2645 lbs.?

If it helps my truck is 3/4, might have something to do with the weight max carry load. A half ton may be less. Never really payed attention to which truck had different numbers.

Each truck is unique.

The label is trying to help you make sure you position the camper in such a way as to keep the center of gravity within a certain acceptable window, for handling and for braking.

It calculates the window based on model, series, GVW, axle ratings and tire ratings.

That makes sense. I searched around the internet for a blank one but couldn't find one anywhere. I first looked at LMC because I knew they had some stickers but they didn't have that one. If I could find one I'd just use what I could see from mine and just type in the numbers. I have an old type writer that would work for duplicating typed letters like those. Unless they are a certain font size, then I don't know. I guess I could use all capital letters. I'll look at mine and get that old type writer out and see if the lettering is the same size. At least that "73" is there and maybe some others, I don't know. I'll look.
