Cut off the rear portion of the taillight, and all of the rot. Started welding in a better section.

Please read slowly, a couple of questions in here. I try to be ambitious with this truck but family, work, and minimal free time often hinder my geterdun!
So now having replaced the TPS and IACV just to throw things at the TBI hoping something would help, I realize why I have had slight improvements and then setbacks. I need to set base idle with the IACV and more importantly it seems, I need to calibrate the TPS. I have been constantly searching the web for any info on IACV and TPS and TBI and O2 sensor etc...does anyone have a really good easy way to calibrate the TPS without all the grounding, wire splicing, and rotating the TPS housing without a volt meter? I could probably just use a decent digital voltage meter with wire barbs right? Also, I have a old school needle voltage meter that my Uncle lent me. Would that work to get the proper DC current I'm looking for (.5 ish is what I have gathered is factory and consensus). Also, how bad would it be if I tried to set base idle without a live data read out of RPM's for my TBI? From what I understand it would mean I would be going through the setting of idle more than once.
I even broke down and called the shop I take the truck to on a Friday afternoon of all days( very reluctantly) to see if I could pick my mechanics brain about all this. I politely told the front desk I would just like to ask a couple questions and if he had time could he please call me...oof. No call back, not surprised.

New harness is installed, just need to get starter back in and wired up. Still need to pull new wire for fuel level to tank, and hooked up but need to drop tank and dump old fuel out.

Both oil pressure gauge sensor and oil switch sensor installed in back of intake. Once I get wiring all completed, will need to spin it on up on top dead and get distributor dropped in. Then just pick up a drive shaft… slowly getting closer

How much harm would come of not calibrating the TPS? Would an AC Delco TPS specific to my truck be ready to go right out of the box, even though it likely would be made overseas?
~$73 for the aftermarket real-deal.

I'm not trying to be an a$$, but as much time, money and worry you have put into the old TBI have you thought about upgrading to a newer TBI? Like Holley EFI, or FAST. I know it is a bit of an upfront expensive but it might be worth it in the long run.

People say the TPS voltage at rest needs to be close to 0.5. and I agree that is ideal. but anything under about 0.9v at rest (installed) will work. it's easy to backprobe with a multimeter. and you can adjust the voltage at rest by bending the tab that contacts the throttle blade shaft tab.

unless somebody has messed with the throttle stop screw, it is unlikely you need to adjust the base idle. the IAC adjusts to maintain idle speed.

As much as an upgrade would be awesome, I am constantly reminded that my obsession is not the priority and money shouldn't be thrown at it, and, we'll I just want it to drive normal again. So I take the routes that seem like I could manage without spending too much. Half the time I feel successful and half the time I feel I run in to a wall. Like now. Thanks for the motivation but I am genuinely looking for another bit of info that might get me there. I am sadly realizing most folks have moved on from the old TBI but it works when it works and I just want the truck to function as intended.

The silicone cap covering idle adjusting torx screw has been popped off of my TBI housing so I believe it has been adjusted at some point.

I have a TBI from a BB. I'm not going to use it, you are more than welcome to it, if you think it will work for you. LMK

I can refurbish with new parts to ultimately ride on my 350.
What year is this TBI from?

Oh, um, is BB a reference to a doner truck?
