My cowl had 5-6 layers of paint which the citristrip took off about 4. I still had to hand sand but I also used a dremil with the tiny sanding roller which worked well. I primed that last week which will eventually see white paint when I paint the hood.

Where does one get the plastic hardware which keeps the cowl attached near the windshield?

The plastic keepers all broke when I removed them.
LMC maybe?

My buddies thought my oil leak may have been the fuel pump, so I threw a new Delphi pump at it yesterday. Put a few miles on it to verify it's not dead out of the box. Seems to work good. Now to degrease the engine bay and hit the freeway at 75 to see if she still leaks.

Did you have to buy new connections for your license plate lights? I can't seem to pull the plugs out of the black boots on my lights. Also can't seem to find new wiring for the female end of the connections. They are original so I'm sure they are just old and stubborn.

Messing with Square stuff. My health is improving & I have some time off so I've organized & prioritized some in one corner of the garage anyways. Unfortunately there are 3 more corners & the middle left to do.

Was busy most of the day getting all the Christmas decor down but when I finally had a half hour for myself, I popped the hood to see if anything obvious would jump out at me. Made sure all sparks were in secure and plugs were actually on. Took off the air filter and checked all the connections on the TB. Cranked it up put it in reverse and immediately, nope. Back in drive and parked her. My nephew is going to pop by Saturday to see if he can diagnose. I hope he can find something and we can get somewhere with it. The weather here is beautiful lately and a drive in the truck would have been sweet. I miss it and want to Photo Ralley.
The nephew says I should eventyally delete the TBI and throw a regular carb on. Is it that simple with the TBI stuff? Wouldn't there be some serious work to getting the electric parts out of the TBI if replacing with a carb?

not sure what the issue is, but TBI > Carb. diagnose whatever the issue is and fix the TBI

Well, first of all how are you going to get fuel to the carburetor? The electric pumps in the tank(s) are part of the TBI system. Your engine block most likely does not have a place to install the old mechanical fuel pump, the one in my '87 sure doesn't.

Second, I am betting your nephew does not remember what a Big Deal it was in 1987 when GM FINALLY put the TBI system in these trucks. Horsepower and fuel mileage went up, emissions went down. That TBI system is a good one although primitive. I replaced almost every component on mine and each one slightly improved things. Whatever it is, it can be fixed.

Thanks @Redfish Andrew. This is what I need to hear. I have been wary to even think about swapping out a carb for the TBI ever since he suggested it a while ago. I knew there would be way more to the system than just deleting the intake and swapping on a carb. I think he is just more familiar with carburetors and thinks they are easier to work with. I do love and appreciate my truck cranking every time. I really am ready to get this situation solved. More to come...

Oh and the dually was there, too; for those who have been missing its presence (I know I have)

Giggity! Could you put up a pic of the sun-visor lower bolt on the drivers side? Pretty sure mine was just slapped on and was all out of wack. Thinking about filling with a stud to just put a bolt/cap on top and be done with it.
