Hmmmm

well new duals to ,new headers..(old ones had broke and split underneath and made a lot of not pleasant noise).

Complete tune up MSD 4 prong module.Accel super coil for a Hei-brass post cap and prem rotor.New wires accel 8.8 90 degree plug boots all boots at the plug had heat reflective tube cut and fit for each wire.

Adjust timing

Factory oil cooler sprung a leak..replaced with a monster sized Hayden oil cooler take an extra quart of oil now.
Go stainless 304 steel on headers next time. It works.

Moved it out of the shop and into my friend's unit to make room to assemble the 4 post lift.

First time I've moved it in a few months I think. Thinking I will pull the motor out soon and probably put a new pan on it and reseal it again. Maybe put some parts I've had for it for the last five years on it. Perhaps even rebuild the front suspension.

if you have time, take some citristrip and coat the top and then put saran wrap over it so air won't get to it. Then do again for each side. Let it sit for 24 hours and see how it cleans up. The trick is the paint remover won't dry so it will work continuously.
Never heard of this being done like that. I’ll have to give it a try

I hadn't either until my dad told me about it last year.

After installing a new TPS and having great initial results, a one ride improvement, like the first time I used Seafoam. I drove the truck after the TPS and it performed well. The next day I took it out to refill the tank and get the RPMs up over neighborhood speed and had a moment of sputter on the way home, this was several days ago. Tonight I warmed it up in the driveway and it was stuttering and sputtering as soon as I put it in gear. It is also idling high and then rough after giving it gas. I think I will need to get IACV adjusted and dig in to spark plugs and wires. Back to square one again.

Yea, probably shouldn’t be in such a hurry but way too many square parts spilling over in my garage, and house. Landscape projects consumed most of the summer and fall. Seeing the frame off projects by others is a head scratcher for me, still in awe when I see and read them. This Frankenstein is not worthy in my opinion. As always, I’m trying to keep it fun and it’s returned a lot of memories plus I get to hangout with all the cool knowledgeable people here.
There’s a reason I NEVER took on a resto project ever, until the blue truck. It would have been in pieces for years! Couple scuff n squirts and mostly whiskey dent repairs is all I did.
Blue truck was a Covid project that failed to meet the timeline…lol.
First, we figgered the whole quarantine from kids extra curricular activities would last longer. Since they didn’t get to go to school for a year and a half!
Second, the truck was nice enough and totally road ready that we just drove it for the spring and summer rather than working on it. By then kids sports were allowed (but not school in person…..don’t get me started) and I never quit going to work. Stayed home one day as a joke to my boss threatening to work from home.
So once I got started, and then life took another turn I won’t discuss, I literally worked every spare minute on it which was a nice distraction but a responsibility I could have done without at the time.
Otherwise it would look like this still.

So I’m going to guess you’ve tried it? How well does it work?
I put it on the wiper cowl and the paint wiped off the next day. I really didn't want to sand all those slots by hand lol.

I would check for vacuum leaks on the TBI base gasket and EGR.

I've been driving mine to work quite a bit lately. Tonight when I got home, I noticed steam came out from under my hood. I immediately started it back up, turned on the lights to see where my temp gauge was. It was around 200, no biggie, so I popped the hood and grabbed a flashlight. I saw antifreeze dripping off the back of the drivers side, and there was antifreeze puddles all along the intake on that side. It's bubbling out of the front of the intake right where it meets the head. Luckily, no cross-contamination of fluids though. I've been battling an erratic idle for some time now, so possibly I've had a vacuum leak. It looks like I'm replacing an intake gasket!

Boy wish Ida thought of that. I spent way too many hours sanding those little slots. That’s a brilliant idea.
