I have to mention this about Jegs. They didn't charge my cc until they got it in. So I didn't have to pay and wait which I think is pretty cool.

Lubed my speedo cables with some old Duralube I had in a small pump spray bottle.

Problem is that the bottle is so old the pump portion broke in the bottle, so I had to try to shake drops out in a cap and pour that down the cable housing.

Speedo and cruise worked on the quick test drive, so I did not do any damage at any rate.

Not to muck up this thread but if you could expound in my thread in the suspension section I’d love to get a cheat sheet on removing and replacing the shock bushings. Cause that’s where I’m at, trying to find what works before cannibalizing what I have. IE cutting the shock bushings out of brand new shocks. Cause they ain’t pressing out. Already tried that.
Probably no sympathy here, but this so far is the only frustrating part of getting this thing restored. Drop almost $600 on then sleet shocks made and they’re all wrong in one way or anther and 2 are completely un-useable.
Anyone with a stock or slight lift need great rear shocks in the Seattle area, I’ll cut you a deal on 2 new 5100s!

I’ll see what part numbers I can dig up. It was beyond frustrating spending $4-5k with ORD and they send me some generic shocks that I can’t immediately install on my truck.

i'm getting new tires for the basket case and while the wheels are off i decided to replace the shocks starting with the rear..... i wondered why the suspension felt funky and while I was replacing the rear shock I realized that they were ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT from 1981! my neighbor told me to put them on e-bay as "vintage" shocks to see if i can get a few bucks for them. These have been compressed since sunday.... I think that they might be good...

Those shocks could be dealer replacements. Back when you could get all the parts for these old squares from the dealer the shocks would have the upper mount attached. "Delco Pleasurizer" was label on many.

I've got a couple of those, but the boxes don't have the window in them. Must be newer.

Finally got the bed painted today. Played hooky from work since I was the only one there on Juneteenth…

Little more sanding cutting and polishing on the bed. All the spots I missed with chitty lights in the garage…found them today when I rolled it outside.
Should have the bed back on tomorrow and ready for trim.
Second pic looks weird because I used up some of the wrong color I got before shooting the real basecoat. So I didn’t use as much of the good paint to get it to cover.

I pulled the junk core support, and as usual one....just one...of the captured nuts didn't want to stay captured. Started to clean up the frame rails just to see how bad they were.

Installed new fuel pump in auxiliary tank, after cleaning the gunk out of it. Rinsed it with gas, sloshed a chain around inside to break up rust scale, blew it out with air. I had to go pick a set of tank straps as mine were rusted through. Had to replace my 6-8 month old fuel tank valve as I broke one of the nipples off trying to disconnect fuel lines, what a PITA! Installed a new fuel filter, and threw $50 worth of 89 octane in it and it's all working good! Next step is getting AC system going along with cruise control. It never ends!!!

Finally got the flywheel on properly with loctite and all torqued down.
Also got the pilot bushing and pilot pin/torque key in.

And I got the new 10.5mm high performance straight boot plug wires on, with my favorite plug wire separator ever. Zip ties!

Taking the 2WD Blazer apart so it can be taken out of the shop to make room for the 4x4 Blazer. Got called to work, tailgate, and center console are the last things to be removed.

dropped the truck off for paint today. He's saying the turn around time is this coming Thursday. I went with summit racing Jet black.

Finally got new trim pieces put on today after I washed/polished it up. I sure wish my truck looked as good up close as it does in 6-8 foot away pictures.

I know it isn't an earth shattering deal, but I finally got this missing piece of my (unobtainable new) grille replaced.
(Thanks to FireTruck1984 for the partial grille piece) The GMC letters look different on the 2nd pic due to the shade.
Not perfect, but works for me.........
