Just a ****** tonight after work. My truck is a work truck first, yes I do like it to look as good as it can, but keeping it reliable is first. So when I first bought the truck it was missing several pieces of trim and hub cap. Those things really bother me so not to long after I replaced all the missing trim except the tailgate, and of course replaced the missing hubs caps with some usedies someone here was kind enough to sell me. Well one of the chrome tail light trim pieces has been loose and I've been lazy. A week of so ago it was fully removed and lost in the car wash. So I bought two new tail lights, with trim and enough trim to replace what's missing on the tailgate.

Tonight after work I only had time to replace the tail lights. Of course I put new bulbs in there with a little dielectric grease on the sockets.

Below one old lens, and the new boxes. I'll be hanging on to the old units encase I break one. The dorman replacements, are really nice and even came with new screws. I think and each one was just under $20 each on Amazon well less than I could get even wholesale though the shop.

Below lights off and lights on. Next up will be replacing that missing trim. I've got everything I need to do it I just ran out of time. The corner piece is missing on the right side as well and I'm going to try to form a piece of scrap trim to that. If I fail I'll order that piece from LMC.

I might have the tailgate piece of chrome trim from the old truck. If not I bet I got 2 pieces that would be long enough to make it across there.
Not giving up the chrome corner pieces though! LOL But I probably also have a piece long enough to do the back of the quarter panel too.
I'll look. Over half the trim I took off was in real good shape.

This reminded me of something funny that happened at work yesterday. The owners wife was here doing paperwork and walked out in to the shop. On the work bench one of the techs had set a bottle of soda down. I could have sworn she said "who drinks tittties here" And I busted up laughing. When she glared at me I stopped laughing and asked what she said which was "who drinks Teddy's" Which is a super sweat bottled soda, that one of the guys apparently likes.

I've still got 1/2 a roll of unused stuff. My truck has the rubber / plastic IDK what it really is, but it's black in the center with chrome on the edges. I'll post a pic when I'm done with the tailgate. I started on it at lunch, but the old glue is being worse than the stuff on the sides was.

Aside from the bullchit with the shocks (different thread), got shocks on, new extended brake hoses all around, front speakers mounted and started on sound deadening the floor, the last couple days.

So happy, all original 36 year old flare nut connections came apart with zero cussing, heating, soaking, rounded off heads, vice grips, or tools thrown!

If our boy gets the inside of the bed prepped this week, will shoot it Saturday and have zero things left to holding up installing trim and final assembly!

If he doesn't, probably won't be driving it on his 16th birthday...

At least your bilsteins came with the correct bushings and sleeves. There may’ve been 2 out of the eight ends on my 5125s that fit the factory sized shock hardware on my CUCV. I ordered them through ORD. It was kind of an ordeal to track down the correct shape and size bushing and sleeve.

I have an '84 that wouldn't take a whole lot to get on the road!
I'd be interested but you're in Montana and I'm in Missouri.

Not to muck up this thread but if you could expound in my thread in the suspension section I’d love to get a cheat sheet on removing and replacing the shock bushings. Cause that’s where I’m at, trying to find what works before cannibalizing what I have. IE cutting the shock bushings out of brand new shocks. Cause they ain’t pressing out. Already tried that.
Probably no sympathy here, but this so far is the only frustrating part of getting this thing restored. Drop almost $600 on then sleet shocks made and they’re all wrong in one way or anther and 2 are completely un-useable.
Anyone with a stock or slight lift need great rear shocks in the Seattle area, I’ll cut you a deal on 2 new 5100s!

Finished it up this morning. Scrapped the old tape off, got all the old adhesive and wax off with Lacquer thinner, cut the two new pieces and installed. I went with the bulk roll trim for the corner since I've got a bunch of it on hand. As long as it stays put that's fine for me. Would I like to have the factory corner piece well yea sure but this is quick and cheap and no longer looks like a piece is missing. Despite the dent in the tailgate getting some proper trim on it, still makes it look better. Like so many other things I've done lately I'm wondering why I didn't do this sooner!

Overall it came out pretty good. For some reason one corner of the trim on the tailgate didn't want to stick on the bottom. I'll wait until this afternoon when it's in the sun and press on it some more. Hopefully that will do the trick. If not I'll need a dab of 3M trim adhesive AKA yellow snot.

The corner piece came out pretty good, and I'm glad I decided to just do it like this. Quick and simple.

A 700r4 that's been rescheduled twice that I ordered about 2 months ago. I should have mentioned it but I'd posted when it was delayed both times and thought people would remember. Lol

Thanks fir reminding me. I edited it so now people will know.
