How'd you torque that down?

that is an excellent question my friend. I know it can be a difficult thing, before i removed it originally i notched the nut and the pinion where it sat, matched that back up in the end and had my dad (over 40 years mechanical experience) feel it and confirm that it felt appropriate. Should've torqued it by dial to be 100% but don't have such capabilities at the moment. we'll see how it is down the line. Any issues, i'll know exactly what it is

According to the rear license plate bracket, your truck was sold originally with no rear bumper. Pretty interesting to see on a high trim level truck.

Idk why tf the put 305 heads on it...
Went back and looked again while cleaning up, because I just couldn’t get over it not having a cam. Turns out it is a Comp Cams 270H cam in it(broken now). It explains why it had a bit of a lope and low vacuum. Although power wise it was a bit of a dud. It never really had any kind of power and always got terrible mileage.

Poor hood, this same thing happended about two and a half years ago, but I was on the interstate, and the hood was even more mangled.

I was working on it last night, and I must have not latched the hood all the way.

Your safety catch must have an engagement problem too.

Damn @jjester6000 , sometimes if it's not for bad luck we'd have no luck at all. How bad is everything?

Hood springs are gone, and the hood is screwed, at least it didn't get the windshield.

Anybody else have an access panel on their fender well? I'm afraid to open it In fear of not getting it to go back on. Lol

It's not supposed to be an access panel. Although maybe somebody did something. AFAIK it's just a reinforcement.

I think the po did it in order to fix the heater core because it isn't hooked up. That's the only thing I can think of why you'd do that. Lol

Pulled the driveshaft to replace ujoints and go figure it's all beaten up and making it very hard to get them out. I beat on it with a 3lb hammer and it didn't budge. Even after soaked it in penatrating oil. I think it's been beat a little out of round.
