Sucked out the old brown brake fluid and wiped the rust out of the Mc.

Poured what fluid I had back in as to not get air in there.

It's at minimum level now. I'm gonna need to replace the back break cylinders and pads. Front pads too. Then I'll need to bleed and replace all the fluid because of how nasty it is.

What's the best way to flush the system? I have the bottle made so I can do it myself.

While I'm at it should I change this too? Maybe my brake light will go off. Lol

You can rent a vacuum pump to bleed them at the auto parts store. Or just use your bottle and fill it with fluid till that tube is covered and just pump petal keeping MC full. Pump till fluid is clean. Close it off more to new wheel and continue. Or get your wife to help you like I do most of the time. Just as quick instead of rigging up something.

Haha buddy picked this Jim up last fall for a good deal but it’s a Florida truck and pretty rusty. It’s all there though, all the rare stuff. But he’s got a newborn and would rather have something he can tinker with and enjoy at the same time rather than a years long rebuild.

One of our customers buys and sells squarebodies all the time and offered up his ‘77 big block burb that’s running driving for a straight trade

That's a great trade, too bad it's sitting on the ground. I'd have to get that thing back up to stock height. I'd be embarrassed to drive that and think everyone was laughing at me who saw me in it.

I haven’t officially done anything yet. Tina already had our daughter & kids on FaceTime as usual. Said our son is stopping by on the way to work. I seen the cop car pull in the drive and his wifey & kids behind him. They come thru the door with a big box. Sort of an early surprise birthday party since he works the night shift and will be sleeping tomorrow, so they cooked this up for tonight. I’ve been wanting these for a while just to change up the look for summer times, but they’re expensive so I could never justify turning loose of the bucks. K&N 9” diameter, 5” tall filters on velocity stacks. Overall height, 10”.

The carbs can gulp all the air they need now. Definitely no air restrictions compared to the dinky filters under the shotgun scoop. Still have to get some all thread and some nice hold down nuts to mount them.

My kids did well but that’s a lot of coin for a just a birthday. Woulda got some better pics out of the garage but the rain is moving in.

Well, I went out fired it up and pushed the brakes little bit and no constant his. So I pumped them a few times. Then jacked up the other rear wheel. Noticed you couldn't rock the tire back and forth.

So now the rear brakes are sticking. Fired it back up and out it in Rev and they didn't spin had give it some gas and they would but, stopped when I let off. Thought it was dragging a little when I drove it too.

What causes that. Is there an adjustment I can make?
Collapsed rubber hose not letting pressure back out of the wheel cylinders?

Finally got it looking half decent from about 30 feet! Little man helped me out. Primed it all, almost ready for my budget paint job. Getting rhino liner off....such a pain. Think twice before applying it.

Lol you’re crazy. It looks great. If they go through with the trade, he’s gonna find some 20s he likes for it, we’re gonna put some helper bags in the rear for a little rake, plain chrome bumpers and rock it. Don’t see many cool, dropped burbs in our area but there’s TONS of c10s. So he’s excited to be different

Tackled a bunch of the little odds and ends to get her ready for the exhaust shop and tuner next week. Re-did a new fuel line going from the regulator up to the rail and wrapped it in DEI heat shield, then covered the trans lines and other fuel lines in it as well. Added adel clamps all around to hold everything in place. Tidied up some wiring, remounted my CAI (need a new one, this one is junk), rechecked my brakes and driveline angles.

Fired it up, put it in gear, we have brakes! Idled it out of the shop, down the hill, around the driveway and when I started going back uphill, the gas pedal wasn’t working and it died. Wouldn’t run after that. Fooey. Dragged it with the tractor to a spot where I can load it on a trailer next week.

This is how far I made it

My kid always refers to the truck as his.
He drives it 98% of the time.

Today I told him he could make it his for $1500...
That would make it his 3rd vehicle at 18 years old.
He told me to put it on his tab.

I said no, cash in hand.
Until then, it is mine.

He ain't no fool - why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free ?

:D

Now, in his defense, does his manual labor count for anything?

And, what is the board member discount off that $1500 ?
