Changed out the KC light covers for something different. This’ll allow me to turn the lights on without taking the covers off first. The red covers are a hard to find item anyway and I don’t want them to blow off driving down the road. New covers fit good (snap on), turned on the lights and one didn’t work. It came on after jiggling the wires, so I guess I’ll fix that tomorrow.

That looks nice. Reminds me of our 75 pickup, but it was 2wd.

75 was a bad year for rust, though- at least ours.

Geez that's a lot of rtv product. Cost more than a couple screws.

Was the rtv to replace or in addition to the retainer screws?

I had a hard time finding a rust free squarebody before finding my 75 in Oakland California. Shipping was costly from California, but I couldn’t find a solid truck in Illinois. The salt they put on the roads only creates rot boxes.

I installed an oil pressure warning light into my gauge equipped C10. I like gauges, but the light is quicker. Wired to a 20PSI switch. I drilled a 5mm hole through the actual gauge face and fitted a little red led which has a chrome bezel and nut to hold it in place. It is discreet and works very well.

Excellent! I've always wondered why this wasn't offered on gauges. At least the aftermarket ones.

My spare wheel used to sit in the back of my truck because the spare wheel holder was all missing, apart from what was left of a bolt.
At a local swap meet I picked up a spare wheel winch/carrier from an early Toyota Landcruiser 4WD. I shortened the cross bracket of it to sit between the chassis rails and bolted it in. I hole sawed through the back of the number plate panel and rear cross brace, so a winder could access the winch. I then modified an old socket to engage the winder and purchased a long 1/2" drive socket extension bar to reach it in. My wheel brace is 1/2" drive and is now dual purpose. To hide the hole and make it all work, I fitted a flip down number plate mount.

number plate holder.

Here's another job l got out of the way a while back. My truck had what was supposed to be a tow bar, or just a crap bracket for a tow ball, I'm not sure. So l cut and ground it all off until I was back to the clean chassis rails. I modified another tow bar and welded some heavy angle brackets to either end and bolted it all up. To tidy up the receiver and not have the "shin killer" fitted all the time, l made up a small step which slides in and is held with the pin. This saves standing on the chrome bumper to climb in the back.

I'm not sold either. I do really like your wheel and tire combo though.

Bought spare bulbs for the dome light.

211-2 came out, so that's what I bought.

578's look exactly the same, so I dunno what the difference is.

Anyhoo, spares are onboard now.

My big ten had the in bed spare up front right behind the cab. I took it out to put my tool box in.
