How hard was it to take the pad off ? Looks relatively easy - a couple of screws and pull out to release the metal tabs, but I have never done it that way.

Always fought the cluster out around it. My upper left mounting tab was already broken when I got into it, so that makes it a shade easier for me.

Plastic POS.

Oh, and that GD aftermarket stereo mounted to a plate on the bezel that you have to find and undo pry tabs to get off, PLUS short wire leads, makes it a real PITA so have not had a lot of motivation to get back in. ironically it was right around this time last year I did my circuit board IIRC.

Just refurbing my cluster now. Getting to that Speedo cable was the biggest single problem I had. Everything else wasn't an issue.

Got my bosses trailer to go pick up my frame, and it started down pouring. So bad I had to pull off at gas stations twice and wait it out.

But I made it back to my house (HOA will love this ) After the storm rolls by I will pull some stuff off of it and take it to my grandfathers and then in a week or two get it media blasted.

Havent done anything but check gear oil and fill but this seal will be next asap... filled it up and its runnin right back out.

Have you tried pulling the grass out? It might slow the leak down a lot.

I’d just tackle it. Gear oil will become more expensive than a seal real quick. With an impact and the tools I mentioned earlier, it takes no time.

If oil is escaping the seal, crap could be getting in and wearing out the bearing.

It's back.

Just got my truck back from the body shop. Why? Because I can't weld worth a ****. They installed both floor panels and painted it with rustproofing like the stuff for beds.

$300 parts and labor.

Next is gauges and dashboard.

No I don't have a picture. I'm inside and truck is not.

I'm starting my body work now. Stripping the surface rust off the bad with a strip disc and grinder. I have a gallon of DTM primer in the mail.

Here we ******* go.

I really don't like body work. I don't know why I do this ****. Lol....

It's amazing how many little dents end up on a bed floor. I'm sure as hell not pulling them, that's for sure.
I think I'm going to weld up all the holes the PO drilled on top of the bed rails, though.
This is going to be a lot of work.

My thought is since I have my frame cleaned and painted, I should just sand, prime, and paint the back of the cab and the front of the bed first? Then put the bad back on and paint the whole truck? Anyone think that's a good idea? Bad idea?

And no, I'm not using that little grinder with a spent cutting wheel on it to remove this rust. It just happens to be sitting there. Lol...
I'm using a stripping disk on a different grinder.

I'll tell you what, though, those brown pin stripes are awesome!!

Guess it doesn't matter. It's a really beautiful bed and needs almost no work other than a little dent in the very back corner.

I just ordered a ton of parts today. This thing is gonna kill me.

But......I still don't get the brown stripes.
Looks Fall Guy to me.
I bet Colt Seavers used to chase down bad guys in this truck. I'm pretty sure of it, actually.
(I was gonna put a fall guy decal on the back window when I'm done anyway, but now it's really gonna mean something. )

Man. I ordered new carpet, a new oem style seat cover, SEM saddle paint, new cargo and dome light covers, a back up light switch, cruise turn signal wiper switch, a fuel door, all the body molding, a couple bulbs, stainless trim rings for the wheels, 4x4 center caps, pull straps and hardware, some bolts, and god knows what else.
I guess it's go time. I'm in like $3500 total so far with the truck, new dual tanks/senders/pumps, wheelhouses, battery tray and holder, ujoints all over, radiator, other engine parts, paint, primer, sanding stuff, what I bought today, etc.

And all I keep thinking about is how I'm gonna end up swapping the damn thing.
