I'm busy making templates for new inner fenderwells since the truck sits on the frame when parked and the tires almost rub the underside of the hood.
What are you going with? Pics of the idea?

Are you making them out of metal as opposed to the fiberglass Slosh Tubz makes them out of?



Metal....i don't have the room for the fiberglass slosh tubz...and those bastards are PRICEY !! I would only invest in slosh tubz if the engine compartment was shaved and I did an ls swap...maybe next build though...........

At this point I am going to installl flat panels flush with the top of the battery and wiper fluid tank....one flat panel on the driver side, the other on the passenger side. The panela will go from the front radiator support all the way back to the firewall. The panels (fenderwells) will be removable in order to access the battery when needed. Once I get further along, I will post some progress pics to further explain the project. I may end up making them out of aluminum. The inner fenders are mainly wide enough to just cover the tires and keep road debris from getting picked up and also to clean up the engine compartment a bit more. It bugs me that when my hood is up, everyone can see how worn my tires are...lol


I'm still in the template stage and may be able to tack weld up some materials in a few days.

Yeah, I have seen those used. I would rather think outside the box (no punn intended) and build some of my own...something different.

It’s ok, it’s a sanctuary state and all the illegals will be helping cleanup and save lives because they’re so appreciative.

Is it going to be sort of similar in appearance to the inner fender/unibody set up the old fords had?

Whatever car I’m thinking of the inner fender went from the core support back to the firewall and it reminded me of a VW Thing, no curves. It seems like it had stiffening beads formed into it to. It could all be some sort poor recollection on my part too.

Although still in the template phase, I plan on cutting out the side pieces tomorrow, and tack welding them into place. I also need to fabricate fastener brackets as well so that both fenderwells can be removed. I plan on making a panel above the battery for terminal access as well as a panel on the passenger side for washer tank access as well. The material of choice was 16 gauge flat steel sheet versus my original plan of aluminum. Since I am not concerned with weight and in case a tire blows out, the steel may hold up a little better than aluminum.


It's hard to tell from the pics but the passenger side fenderwell is slotted to install over the heater hoses instead of me having to disconnect the heater hoses and route them through a grometted hole.

And of course...how low the front end sits now that I relocated the blower motor fan shroud up on the firewall about 3 inches. I had to cut the oem plastic fan housing for the heater/ac fan and make a new housing out of 16 gauge steel sheet. Before I mofied/moved the fan shroud, my passenger side tire would rest on the bottom of the plastic housing. Now that the housing and fan clear the tire with all of the air dumped from the air bags......it sits a wee bit off of the pavement.
