Finally got it torn apart, just have to remove the rear shackle hangers and it's ready to blast.

I found a couple of 14 bolts, just gotta save a few more pennies! Cheaper to buy axles than to re-gear. Besides, I'm up-grading from 10 bolt axles!

Now you're getting it grasshoppa. That's what I tell everyone. Why pay to regear 10 bolts, when you can usually find a set of 3/4 ton axles that are already 4.10's or 3.73's for about $300. Find some OEM 8 lugs wheels and done. Lot more bang for the buck.

Pulled the bed off and started on cleaning up the frame, then on to the rust repairs.

The first picture was done a few weeks ago. The others were all today. Damn trans swap/conversion has taken me 6 months so far an will probably take another 2 or so before I'm done. My schedule sucks bad this year, no free time for anything it seems like.

New shocks front and rear, and greased up all the suspension lube points.

Was fixing an exhaust leak when I noticed my front shackles didn't look right...

I like the sounds of ORD's greaseable HD shackles. Or maybe I will just get some poly bushings and make new shackles myself. Dunno yet, any suggestions?

I have been searching but haven't found the right answer. I know the 1 ton rear axles need the spring perches moved. Are the 3/4 tons bolt in? I have heard the front driveshaft may have to be lengthened

Yes, 3/4 ton axles bolt in 1/2 tons just fine. You will need to use the 3/4 ton hardware though on the rear cuz the axle tubes are bigger. The 3/4 and 1/2 ton front axles are identical anway. Only difference is one is a 6 lug hub, one is 8 lug. So no, the front driveshaft will also remain the same. Depending on which 3/4 ton axle you're swapping in, and which 1/2 ton axle you're swapping out, will determine what you have to do to the rear driveshaft. In a perfect world, you might be able to get the rear driveshaft out of the donor truck you got the axles out of.

Thanks for the info. I'll see if I can get the driveshaft with the axle.

Put "likes" on my square, 5% all around plus the clear ceramic film on the front windshield.

Now that the front end is good to go, I made time to fix the aftermarket electric locks and autodim mirror. They shared the same ground wire, was loose. Also tightened up the tail gate so it doesn't jump as much over bumps.

Got the front end aligned today. Got a few small bugs to work out, charge the AC and a good detail.
