Replaced the cheesy oem rubber sway bar bushings with polyurethane. Wow...what a ride difference.

I also ditched the plastic coolant recovery tank with a polished stainless steel unit that I picked up at the last GoodGuys car show in Phoenix. It takes up little space, and it looks so much cleaner in the engine compartment.

It was bound to happen. The ignition gets tough just at the START position since I've owned the truck. I'm surprised it last this long.

New valve cover gaskets.

Scraping gaskets off the heads so new intake gaskets can go on. Intake, valve covers and air cleaner painted. Now I just need to get everything back together and hope it runs.

Where have you been shorthand? I finally got my new compressor hooked up. I shouldn't have any air issues now. I've been reading a lot on should filler go over or under epoxy primer, and wow, there are guys who insist sand with 36 grit and do filler work. Then there are just as many who say apply epoxy primer 1st scuff with 180 grit, then do bodywork with filler, then apply another coat of epoxy to the repaired area afterwords. What is your thought on this topic?

Been under the hood of the truck and replacing front end bushings....
I always sand down to bare sheet metal before applying body filler. The bond MUST be to metal, or eventually it will crack, or even chip off.

POR15 it and then apply filler I freakin hate bondo! The POR15 will protect the metal from any moisture. I have never seen anything last more than 10 years before allowing the metal to rust.

Agreed! You must stop or remove the rust. Also any pin holes through the sheet metal will just allow moisture in behind the repair and cause failure. Bondo for dents on good steel is OK given you pull as much of the dent as you can first and your filler thickness is minimal. Rust or rot must be blasted or cut off and replaced.
