Finally installed a mechanical oil pressure gauge and water temp gauge.

Plugged my heater core hoses where I thought they'd go, didn't work.

I replaced the output shaft u-joint(the one that connects to the diff yoke). I was going to put it back on the truck and have some 4WD, then I found out my dad took off the straps and flung them, and now I have to get new ones. So I went to the parts store to get some, and they look like a cheap piece of flat stamped steel. Is that all they are? It didn't look very strong.

Installed my tach too. Wrong. But at least it's in there. I gotta hook up power to the tach, oil pressure and water temp since driving around and occasionally shining the flashlight at them to see doesn't seem like something i should keep doing.

You been busy. Yes, those straps aren't much and why the wheelers prefer to change the Yoke and go to the Ubolt style with nuts. Some guys even drill out the threads and go with Ubolts on the OE Yoke. But the thing is, if you jack it up drilling it out, then you are commited and have no choice but to swap the pinion yoke on the rear end. That in itself, if you don't follow the right procedure can trash your rear gears. I do have a feeling though, OE straps are probably a little better than those Dorman replacements from the Help section at the discount auto stores. But go with it, they'll work. I don't even know where they are, but I'm sure I'd have a set of OE's to mail you, but damn, finding those will be like a needle .....

I just had to go through that on mine, the originals stretched out a little. The store only had one in stock, so I replaced one and shimmed the old one with a piece of a beer can. :waytogo:

I did mean to do a write up on the measurements of the yoke and look into the u-bolt mod but I didn't get that far on it yet.

He damn sure is. He's trying to get all finished up just like I like it, so when I get out there in PHX via Southwest, it'll be ready for me to drive back to OKC.

Hows greasable bushsing work,,,,is there a zerk fitting somewhere,,,,I have damn poly bushings on my front springs,,,,thy creak like hell all the time,,,sounds like crap

Greaseable bushings require a greaseable leaf spring bolt. It will have a zerk, hollow bolt, and holes that allow the grease to go between the bolt and bushing. Offroad Design sells some.

Today I installed a new front main oil seal and a 7" balancer, since the 8" was balanced for the standard transmission's flywheel. The truck idles so smooth now you wouldn't even know it was running except for the exhaust leaks lol.

With the addition of greasable's in the rear all my suspension points will be able to be lubed.

Since Ive tore apart my 33yo 56'ers Ive also noticed how wore out the spring pad inserts can get (usually on the ends of the springs to help the spring below it slide).

Ill be replacing those as well....might be something else you want to look into.

Pulled the entire rear assmebley of a crew cab yesterday. (56 inch leaf spring dana 70 and swaybar) Plan on using the 56leafs for my k20. The dana 70 Idk.

SBC balancers are all neutral balance unless it's for a 400 (or some 383 kits), are you sure you had the right balancer to begin with?

Got my new tank selector switch and put it in. Nothing major but looks so much gooder. Other than that just driving it everyday.

The drill holes that don't go all the way through lead me to believe they were balanced different since they were drilled different.

The drill holes that don't go all the way through lead me to believe they were balanced different since they were drilled different.

The drilled spots are just how they balance them, kinda the opposite of wheel weights. Remove material rather than add. A 400 balancer has a big lump cast into the backside of it. It's also possible your outer ring could have moved on the hub over the years, causing some vibration.
