i hosed everything down 3 times with penetrating oil tht i got from work. when teh fittings started to move i started to work the fitting (loose, tighten, repeat) until the fittings came out. having a rotted wood bed floor did make it easy to get to the main fitting on the line that you are describimg but that was the easy one to pul. the two at the block were very fun to work with. on the subject of penetrating oil. I work at a place called Quality Fasteners in San Antonio and i purchased a can of pb blaster penetrating oil and a can of the stuff we have been selling for years. i used the pb blaster on the driver's side line and one application was enough. i used the store brand stuff on the back line and three applications later it seemed to work. if you are owrried about breaking a line because of a frozen fitting penetrating oil is your friend and i would recomend the pb blaster, lots and lots of pb blaster

Pb is always my go to! If i know in advance ill spray it once a day till the day i hafta tear it apart.

Started the cleaning, painting, and overall restoration of all my engine parts, going on the new 350 that's going in my 86 soon.
Cleaned and painted the manifolds, polished the valve covers, thoroughly scrubbed and cleaned all of the accessory drive bracketry, got those ready for paint too.
Am still trying to scrub the intake clean, but that stained aluminum is proveing tougher than my degreaser. May just paint it too, well see.

Aluminum cleaner/brightener….or toilet bowl cleaner should clean up that intake. Any number of acids will work.
Just tried oven cleaner, that worked great.
Gonna try some toilet bowl cleaner now, see if it will being the shine back.

Try it sparingly. It won’t make it shiny. Might be more “white”.

You can go over it by hand with a dark red Scotchbrite pad, that will put a little bit of the "new" back into it.

The Aluminum Brightener found at NAPA works pretty well. Much better than the oven cleaner I've tried in the past. Never tried the toilet stuff though.

It's quite a bit better.
Got most of the grease and the staining out. Still is a bit dark and dull. I'll try the aluminium brightener and the scotch bright. If that doesn't get it "shiney" enough, I'll go for paint.

Yes it does. All are acids though.
Toilet bowl cleaner is, the real stuff not the environmentally friendly stuff that won’t even take a turd stain off porcelain, Muratic acid. Hydrochloric acid.

Replaced the back-up light switch at the base of the steering column today because i lost my reverse lights yesterday. i tried adjusting the switch, but it wasnt ratcheting around like it should and wouldn't move correctly with the gear selector. it was a bit of a pain to line the actuator and slot up by feel while crammed under the dash, but I finally got it.

We noticed my son's truck had a few bright green drips on the underside of the engine bay so we looked deeper and found the radiator leaking as well as the water pump. Decided to kick the snow ball down the hill and see if we could keep up. Figured if we were going to swap out the radiator, might as well do up the whole area we had to take apart. Ended up doing the radiator (Summit racing 4 row, stock) water pump, radiator hoses, heater hose, fan belts and thermostat. Also added a inline heater to the lower radiator hose. Yeah I know it doesn't get that cold in Reno Nevada, but it sure is nice to have near instant heat in the mornings when it snows here and the heater keeps the windshield from getting overly crusty, takes a moment to clear the ice or snow from the windshield.

Radiator was advertised as "drop in" but was much thicker than what we took out, had to modify the top hold down brackets to work with fat boy radiator. Does any one know if Chevy made larger brackets for the bigger radiators?

took a couple of steps backs today, realized i didnt install (or even order) a fuel return line.....removed core support and radiator to increase the space to get in and install the fuel return line.
got a few small steps forward accomplished but the big steps back suck.

replaced the freeze plugs and did a valve adjust while the a/c compressor was out of the way
