Ended up my dad had the top portions and bolts for the rad support mounts, and i used the good bottoms from the Burb, finally got the rad support in and pulled the AC condensor from the Burb to steal its mounts. New one is skinnier than the original, but the rad support is polite to me and has a few options for the mounting, hopefully i get away clean.

Pulled all the hack wiring from the dash. It was held together with duct tape and gauges were held in with silicone. I’m sure this is part of where my no crank/no start issues are. Also checked out the wire from battery to starter, it pulled apart in my hand. Looking for replacements now but I’m not sure of the fuseable links that should be there bc mine was wired directly to starter.

Is that speaker wire or lamp cord? I found both in mine....along with a vollyball sized *** of solid core red wire. Apparently the PO wanted a reading light next to the microwave he was installing.

Small miracle today, nothing on the docket.
Took the opportunity to finally get the cab in primer.
so me and the boy got after it. ****, it took us like 2 hours just to mask off the cab!
Still have a few spots to fix and found 2 more around the back window, booooo. but it feels like I made good progress since it’s a different color, lol.

Freshened up the front of my truck today. Finally installed my aftermarket grille & headlight bezels. I also polished & touched-up my original bowtie emblem & replaced the black vinyl tape with a carbon fiber pattern. No more cracked & rattling parts for now!

Speaker wire! Had about 3 ft under dash and 30 ft going to the speakers. I cut it all out.

Heat gun and razor works pretty sweet for removing the paint, and no dust.

So the Autozone AC condenser isn't going to work; don't know why i didn't call that. Anyone know where i can get an OEM one? That will actually fit, not just some POS modern that "might" fit?

Slowly getting her face back on, keep running into dumb things like this. . .

Notice the clean, unobstructed view out of the windshield ?
You know, because there is no rear view ?

:flipthebird:

I forget how many times this makes in 4 years.

More rough stuff- tailpipe hanger.

Noticed it was loose yesterday- OK, I will tighten it .

Hmm - seems to not be tightening.

SNAP!

Did not notice it was double nutted last night.

OK - I have some random bolts - was able to hang it but not with both rubber biscuits- my bolt was too short.

Went to the muffler shop this AM - had an oil change in front of me. Can I wait ? Sure.

Maybe 10 minutes later he comes in and says that is the old style hanger - he pitched the ones he had a while back.

Mmmm Kay - can I get a bolt ?

Sure ! New bilt with Nylock nut and 2 washers.

How much do I owe ya ?

Nada !

:D

So - did I sandwich them right ?

Biscuit on either hanger side.

Steel washers (old) on the outsides.

I removed my stock style hanger that was on my frame during my rebuild effort. I was already drilling rivets, so I figured it could go as well. My previous exhaust was already straight back duel 3" with 50-series Big Block mufflers and axle dumps, but using those crappy clamp on style hangers that had been booger welded to some of the cross members. It was a real mish-mash of expensive parts and crappy execution.

I ended up ordering these walker OEM style hangers from Amazon to use when I get to the point of putting the exhaust back on and running it all the way out to behind the rear tires. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008QDSDXY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They will bolt to the frame and then weld onto the exhaust pipe. Cut off the excess and done.

Getting my old 305 stripped down after she went kaput.
Almost ready to pull it, just have the engine mounts and the bell housing bolts.
