Was moving my busted axle around and got really pissed when the c-clip kept popping out and having to reset it. So if you don't have a center pin and just need to move your truck or axle around your yard, here's a simple little hack.

I measured to find the closest bolt, was about 3/4 of an inch, then I took the threaded end to the bench grinder until it fit between the axle shafts, then simply install between the shafts and "loosen" the nut, which will in turn keep the c-clips locked in the spider gears.

The smart @$$ answer is that they come with a new inner fender. I'm not aware of them being available as a patch piece. I figured I would be cutting and fabbing replacements by hand if I got to that point.
Do they? I'm not regularly searching for inner fender. The last time I saw some they seemed to be one piece and not have those plates or whatever they're called.

My '85 and '86 both have them and they're part of the inner fender. Dunno what goes on with other people's trucks.

Yea, it's a great match.

So for reference, GM 511 Ochre is a really good match to Ace Hardware Catapillar Yellow Enamel Tractor Paint.

Last time I painted the truck, I had at least 5 people see it in my driveway and ask if it was for sale, then they got close and saw how much of a POS it was.

I expect that will be happening again.

Changed the PCV valve - hardest part was that dam spring clip and the fact that I did it while hot.

But, what the hey - done.

Also got 2 gallons of 15W40 Supertech for $ 20.89 for an upcoming oil change.

:)

Well it’s been a while I’ve been busy as hell; but managed to get some done to the ole girl. New shoes,(33/12.5/15) set me back a good bit but it needed them bad. Finally got it painted! Satin olive and my wife suggests black trim.
