As for the tools, I’ve got quite an arsenal, ranging from stuff that I’ve made my self out of broken drill bits n **** like that to the highly specialized stuff like the microscope, Sil-Air compressor, etc.

for the materials, I’m constantly buying the tiny gemstones that get used as accent stones. And the bigger centerpieces, are bought less frequently, or on a stone by stone basis, or I’ll have em custom cut by my buddies who are pro stone-cutters/faceters/lapidary artists. In terms of the metals, usually keep a few pounds worth of sterling on hand in the form of wire or stock or sheet in basically all the gauges from 06-34, and to a lesser extent gold. Usually try to buy all my golds when there’s a dip on the spot(market) price. But thankfully both leftover gold n silver scrap can be melted down in a crucible, poured into an ingot, and rolled/milled/pulled back into wire, stock, or sheet.
and since both gems and metals are considered ‘materials’ by the taxman, they’re 100% deductible.



I know at this point that any investment I’ve made with the tools and gear has already paid for itself time n time again, Altho it was def a steep curve at first. As for the finished
pieces, the bulk of the work is all custom/commissioned stuff, and the pieces I’ll make on speculation generally won’t sit longer than a month or two, unless it’s like a 5 figure piece or something crazy

Ok, that sounds like a pretty decent business model then, i wasnt sure if it was the type of business where you have to invest 'x' amouny initially, then sit on it make your money back.

We typically dont sit on anything, very low overhead (all paid equipment), tooling, fixtures, and gauges are made on PO, with a leadtime and 30 day payment terms. I think we only have 1 customer thats COD, but hes a scumbag and will **** you out of your money if its another way.

But also during that time, i remachined a spare tbi i had, bored it to 46mm, chopped the horn down, redid the throttle shaft bushings (my way), and in the next post, wire EDM'ed new butterflies for the 46mm bore.

I've got something I need machined myself! I afro-engineered one out of a large PVC coupler but would much prefer a nice one machined out of aluminum! Used in conjunction with my air cleaner riser on a Holley to facilitate keeping my 3 barrel scoop centered on the riser and keep it from rotating!

Hand engraved the trim around the front marker lights to match the other engraved parts on one of the project trucks. Next up in this series will be the side view mirrors

Dang man!!! I did not know you did that kind of stuff, that is such a freakin' art too! I really dig the hand engraving & stenciling that is done on some of the vintage saxophones I have seen, some of the stuff is wild. Would love some year to get my bigass Bari sax custom engraved at some point.

Nice work, I like the detail, that bezel you did is sweet!

However, something cool did happen. The guy that originally built my dually found me and reached out to me and said it looked like his old one! Sure enough it was.

I apologize to those of you have seen this already, and get to see it again, but I am still excited about it!

Well, the underside and floorboards will be glad to tell you a different story!! The outside of it has some surface rust, but holy balls a lot of metal was eaten away on it. I am making it road safe, may do a frame off down the road however. (I have a build thread in Under Construction in the 2wd 30/35 series trucks if you want to see the mess underneath & floorboards).

I am still very excited that the guy that built this truck found me! He was able to answer a LOT of questions about it.

That’s really cool! I’ve only ever been able to talk to previous owners of one of my cars (my old ‘03 Mach 1 was the development mule for Ridetech and had the first SN chassis kit on it, so now I have a buddy there lol). I need to try to track down the previous owners of my square, I mainly wanna find out where it was sold new so I can redo the dealer sticker to put back on the little plate that’s on my tailgate band
