79 is taking a ride to get 3rd & 4th gear put back in. They fell out somewhere. Damn it.
Driving along, right turn onto the 202 and out of no where, 1st & 2nd gear were the only players in the game.
Fluid still pink, and full, TV cable connected, but shift into 3rd.....

That is a bummer but the truck looks damn good though. Liking how the wheels are open but still hide the brakes.

as i posted earlier, i rebuilt the rear 13" drum brakes.
yesterday, i finally got the system bled to my satisfaction.

proportioning valve/block got 'centered' and the rear brakes bled like they should.
all old fluid flushed out (back brakes had been dry for ages apparently).

the first/only method i tried for the proportioning valve/block/brake failure light device was:

open a bleeder from the 'working' end of the brakes, in this case i opened the bleeder for the front driver's side.
key on, engine off, brake light is illuminated.

stomped the brake pedal semi-rapidly and the brake light went off.
closed bleeder and relocated catch jar/tubing to rear brakes.

slow pedal push on each rear side (one at a time of course) untill no bubbles and fluid ran clear.
about 7 pedal pushes to come close to draining resevoir.
filled maybe 7 or 8 times.

close bleeders and clean up the gear.

jacked up the rear and 'drove' the truck.
pedal was firm and stopped the rear tires cold.

sweet.
:)

Two tubes!! I guess if they didn't have grease in a decade?o_O:33:

I get a handful of pumps on each of mine and they start oozing . Hit them all, don't even use a 1/4 of a tube on them? Well if it's a K and you have all grease able u joints that were dry they would take a good bit I guess.

I have put a whole tube in a car when a quarter would suffice before. Not from rubbing down the underside mind you. Thought they were super low and were taking in the grease. Half hour later it looked like something from Dr pimple popper. They swelled up and were oozing grease like **** when shrinking back down to normal size.

Are you Sure you didn't put grease in the engine's crank case and in both diff's too?
I don't think there's enough grease points on that truck to call for THAT much grease o_O:rockit::rofl:

Today I finalized all the screwy in's and outs of my electrical in the big k5ton....

I now have a gas gauge, engine temp, voltage, fuel pump (turns on) oil preasure circuit is fixed, but the sender is bad.

Headlights, turn signals, markers, efi, EVERYTHING I needed.

Tomorrow I move onto cooling....

We had a guy at the shop that was running a 15" hydrolic Chuck that was slow at opening and closing. So I told him to grease it. Bet it hadn't been done in a while. So he did. He came up and told me he put 2 tubes of grease in it.

I said 2 tubes? 1 zert on each jaw which makes 3 total. He had grease pouring out of the jaws for a week. Lol

He bitched when is gonna quit coming out of it? We laughed and laughed about that and never let him forget it.:D
