Took her on a 180 mile round trip, all highway. Tachin over 3k the whole way, i really need overdrive! I filled up before i left :happy175:

Drove Goldie to my Mom's- 84 degrees today, so AC time.

Rear blower has decided to develop a dead spot - won't come on, won't come on, BLAMMO !

Verified after I got over here as I pulled the rear cover down and a flick of the blower wheel gets her going.

Also over adjusted the driver's side shoes - smells hot, feels hot.

Gonna have to roll like that until I go back tomorrow. I assume it will wear itself down to some extent, but no idea HTH I did that. It spun relatively free, with some drag.

Oh well, it will even the wear out since before the passenger side was doing most of the work.

I have NO idea!! Took $49 to fill wich was about 17 somthin gal. And its now on E! But tachin 3k+ most of the way at probly 75mph or more... with a tired 350/350 combo and 3.42 posi on 31x10.50's....

Mine has 3.42's - not posi, though.

Seems like with 31's your RPM's would be lower .

But, no idea - none of my squares had tachs.

Goldie, my brother, you have a frozen/sticky left rear wheel cylinder or in fact the old hose on the left rear has created its own one way valve.

Could be , but it rolls freely in the driveway - ?

New ( year old, perhaps) wheel cylinders, too. The lines to the cylinders from the diff are metal, I think, but there is a rubber one from the diff to mid frame. If it is a bad wheel cylinder the pluses are they are cheap and can be changed without removing the shoes. Downside is that it will get driven back this way ...

I know LMC sells the rubber portion- not sure about parts stores.

The rubber t line would put the same unwanted pressure on both sides. According to the previous post the R side shoes are worn more than the left, yes? In that scenario, the line pressure is free to go to the L rear since the L drum was hot and smelly, doing 1/2 the work and releasing and the R wheel cylinder could be sticking(doing 1/2 the work and not releasing). Faulty wheel cylinders are uncommon but it has to be one of them.

180miles /17 gallons = 10.58 mpg, roughly.

Well, not sure the RH side was more worn, but could be as it seemed to be doing more work. Correct if wrong, but since a self adjuster is a one way operation, if too loose it could adjust to where it should be over time, but if too tight it won't automatically back off.

So, what needs to happen 1st is for me to get the drum back off and loosen the driver's side 2 clicks as a start.

Problem is no floor jack here.

I will play with it when I get home, or tomorrow. I guess I should buy one of those drum ID/shoe OD measuring tools and take the guessing out of it.

LOL- borrowed a floor jack and jack stand from Mom's friendly neighbor!:waytogo:

Aluminum 2.5 ton - much lighter than my steel 3 ton at home.

In the process, found that Goldie would fit in my Moms garage (rained here) EXCEPT for the rear spoiler...

Height wise maybe an inch to spare between the garage door and Goldies roof - eased in the garage, stopping every few inches to check it out ...
