Well, no vacuum on the "new" hose I chose to power the EFE.

May pony up for a new TVS, unless someone has a known good OE unit they want to sell.

At least they are still offered. :waytogo:
I've got the one from my 79 if you're interested, not sure if it works but its yours for the cost to ship it, also have the green one from my 76 that I know is a good one as it is a replacement that I put on before I deleted the emissions stuff.

The 79 looks line mine now down to the color and port configuration.

Can't tell what that is on the front side - another port ?

Also found this that explains which port is which: http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/smforum/index.php?topic=34329.0

Now, I know what hoses should go where.

You take PayPal? May not be able to get to it until next Tuesday.

If not, I could mail you a check. I can probably find a way to test yours while it is loose.

Flying by memory, but seems like the top port was the vacuum source to the valve, and the port directly below it is the EFE port. If you have a vacuum pump and get vacuum between those 2 ports when cold, and then vacuum shuts off when the temp probe is in hot water (180 plus, IIRC ) then the EFE portion works.

Which, if my hose switcheroo yesterday was correct, is more than I can say for my current one.:p

Edit - is the green one for the EGR?

Finally figured out that the mystery brake failure that has kept the truck sidelined for months is a faulty switch in the combination valve. There was never actually anything wrong with the brakes. F me.

Oh well, the rear pipes needed replacing anyway.

Well, looks like the vacuum hoses were probably in the correct locations before on the EFE.

I need to flip them back, and then plug the hose and cap the actuator.

Just because...

Until I can get the one @legopnuematic was kind enough to offer.

Haven't done anything yet. This Friday I will while the missus is out shopping but I did make a few new scores :grd:

First we have the 3310-2 that I picked up for $80. I need a square bore intake though and a rebuild kit and electric choke kit

Then we have the intake and carb I got for free from a friend. I like the spread bore but I want vacuum secondaries and a choke.

Then I picked up a brand new HEI for $30. I think it fell off the back of a truck because he has about 40 more lol. I might get another.

and lastly the 454SS valve covers I got for $20

That's why I bought them! I have a set of those fancy aluminum tig welded jobs but when I saw these I thought they would look awesome under the hood of my truck :D

How did you find out, and can you still buy the valve?

Without going into all the round and round, it eventually went from really intermittent to slightly less intermittent. It started to behave more like an electrical problem. Like the light being out when I started the truck, then coming on for no reason. So I was able to isolate the ground path to the switch. Then I took the switch out and it still had continuity, plus I could see the valve was centered, so the light shouldn't have been on.

I ordered a replacement switch. I'll let you know how it works out.

They have valves too. It looks like they're generic, but it's probably a generic kind of system.

If you're thinking of ordering a new proportioning valve just beware. They suck. I've tried a few and could not bleed the rear brakes. I tried resetting the pin and I even took the pin out and couldn't get fluid out of it. Before the valve it poured like crazy but nothing after it. I've read tons of stuff online about how all the aftermarket proportioning valves are junk. If you're looking to keep the nostalgic stock look get a junkyard one and have it rebuilt or hope it works. Otherwise Tee the front brakes and run the rear on an aftermarket adjustable one.
