Did you hire out the powder coating or do it yourself? I've heard it's cheaper to buy new wheels than powder coat a set. This true?

I hired someone, it was 50 bucks a wheel. Not sure on the color when buying new wheels. You still might have to paint them. I like the powder coat because its a little more durable than paint.

I need to find someone to give me that price. The color on the repro wheels look more lt. gray than silver to me. It could be the computer screen, but I've seen a few squares around my way where the wheels are obviously brand new and they also look gray instead of silver. I'm going to check with this place near my job and see what they'll run me. Did they blast them for you also before coating?

Cleaned up the top end of the engine this last weekend. Got rid of the rusty chrome valve covers, 10" pie tin Eddy air filter and that nasty oil spewing external breather. Put on a set of stock valve covers picked up from Pick and Pull. Cleaned and painted them first, installed them along with a new 14" air filter, gutted an old pcv valve to vent to the bottom of the new filter. Also rebuilt the Eddy carb, and straightened out the spark plug wires.
