I installed the flexible transmission dipstick into the TH350. cleaned the port as best I could and after reading the reviews online everyone keeps saying put silicone on before installation yada yada yada....well if they would have read the instructions it clearly states to do so before hand. got it snapped in and now I have three holes in my firewall that were unnecessary. Ill figure out the best mounting on the firewall later.

Thanks! They are different but that gives me the right direction. I'll grab some L brackets and get a bolt to try and fit into the channel. Did you bend yours at the center to keep it flush with the hood or let the ends be further out than the center line? I couldn't quite tell from the photos.

It was bent already when I got it from @bucket. It's really an S-10 shield but I rock it anyway, it's all I got.

Well I'm getting some GMC grills restored! The top one is completed-the bottom grill is in plastic primer awaiting its first few coats of argent silver.

Replaced Map sensor and temp switch. Went to replace oil pressure sensor and the plug is bad. Plastic housing is no good. Even if it were good, the gage is still pegged out.

Tomorrow, I get to install new valve cover gaskets and rebuild the TBI.

Sounds like some of the same work I was doing to the r20 a few months back. Hope it goes well

Knocked some hard to get to paint off the block on the LS with a dremel tool. Also put a can of sea foam in the tank. See if she feels better, lost a bit of higher speed power.

Thanks, me too. My concern is rebuilding the TBI. I've already noticed the plug where the injector wires run thru is falling apart. Might clean it out and fill it in with some sort of epoxy or some other suggested filler.

You're talking about the rubber plug at the front where the injector wires go right? I'd be tempted to RTV it and then just redo it again if I ever needed to pull the wires out for another rebuild. I decided to replace one of my injector wire clips too when I was in there. I wasn't happy with how much exposed wire I saw when I looked at it. That, at least, is still an available part.

took the heat sheilds off the exhaust manifolds for the LS. Brushed off all the loose rust and sprayed it down with OSPHO. I'll hit them with high temp silver or black, haven't decided yet. The engine's going to be silver, so I'll probably do black. Hmmm......may have to try the dipping method with silver/black in the link below.

The plan was to leave the heat shields off. Do any of you have any issues that come to mind doing so?

New ignition wires, rotor, and cap. Removed the large mirrors and went with smaller ones.

prepping manifolds for dipping tomorrow. If it doesn't look right afterwards, paint can be removed.
