Did you have the card painted? What's he doing to it? The anticipation is building :)

You and me both. I didn't have him paint it, he's re chroming everything and making it look better than new. As far as the guts, I have no clue. I gave him my build specs and he told me he would take care of it, and that I wouldn't be disappointed. I'm anxious. He said he would send me a build sheet with everything he did to it.

finished garage aligning after installing all new tierod ends, flushing the power steering with real power steering fluid rather than nasty ATF that was in it, test drove.

front right brake is definitly dragging, maybe that is why it pulls left and i only get 11.5mpg........good thing that will be coming off next week so i can do ball joints.

truck has to get out of the garage so i can put new wheel bearings on our jetta tomorrow.

Did you notice much difference from the ATF to power steering fluid ? Why did you switch ?

Installed new pro comp steering stabilizer with boot and replaced the drag link ball joints and adjuster with Moog HD parts.

it is a power steering system that is spec'd for power steering fluid AFAIK. anyway, the crap that was in there was red/brown in color and at low engine speeds ocassionally it would become ineffective, ie have to rev the engine to get the assist. plus when i was moving my wheels back and forth in the garage, i managed to push a lot of it out, so i figured it needed to be refilled/bleed anyway might as well just flush it while i was at it.

so far so good with power steering fluid, i do think it performs much better with power steering fluid as compared to the dirty ATF, feels smoother

- Dropped tranny pan and made a big mess and discovered tranny pan is crazy warped so new pan will be required. Will be also getting a new filter for the transmission.

- Pulled oil pump and swapped out shaft and discovered the bushing was ready to break in two so I'm glad I got to it now and it not failing later and causing some crazy havok.

- Pulled rear seal and realized I have no rtv sealant so will have to pick some up tomorrow so I can re-install the rear main cap.

Definitely glad I have my new breaker bar.

What do you do with the RTV on your rear main bearing cap? The B&M pans are the best bang for your buck although I believe the TRP cast aluminum finned ones can be had for less then a $100 but the deep sump pans from TRP do not come with extension tubes as far as I know only the B&M pans do.
