Valve covers yanked and cleaned. Remove all gross disgusting rtv or whatever it was sealant off of them.

Yanked off the old cast iron manifold.. dear god that thing must weigh damn near 20-30lbs LOL.

** EDIT ** Apparently the cast iron manifold is 42lbs!!!!!!!!!! Its like a small kid sitting on my engine. The aluminum is around 13-14lbs!!

Oh yeah, biggo difference in weight. Also the cast iron retains the heat too. Many benefits to aluminum intakes.

I tried to replace the front rubber brake hoses but there isn't enough room to work and the fittings just round off.

You need to be using flare nut aka line wrenches or they'll do that.

Just bought all the stuff to change trans fluid, filter, and cooler lines.

How hard is the filter to change?

I did and they still rounded off.
And there isn't room for vise grips.
I may be forced to pay a shop's $100 an hour labor rate to change them for me.
They are frayed badly at the calipers, and I don't trust them when they get like that.

installed my new temp sensor and the gauge now reads dead center of teh OE gauge. it has a touch of flux a little over a little under but otherwise dead center. with doing the new sensor, i was able to put my new dash bezel in. now it doesn't look bad at all. i am a happy camper. :D

Use the real tiny vice grips - the ones that are like 3 inches long. Thats how I got mine off. It was probably the most difficult project I've done yet but I got it in the end. In the end it was the wife that had to get in there with her smaller hands so if you know any small-handed people that might help too.

In other news I was finally able to get the driver's seat belt retractor to work. Had to loosen the bolt and move the whole assembly away from the seat so it wasn't pinching the belt anymore. I then pulled off the plastic cover and re-wound the retraction spring as the little plastic cap had popped off. Nice easy and rewarding project!

Use plenty of penetrate spray. Remove the larger nut that holds the rubber line to the frame. Carefully pull the connection thru the frame and clamp on the flare nut and the metal part of the rubber hose. When putting it back together just make sure the large nut is still on the metal brake line.

Drove mine from our vacation home to home, about 170 miles. Good news is that after adjusting the carb and adding a dryer duct cold air hose up to the air cleaner I increased mpg from 9 to 10!

There are several car shows at work over the next couple of weeks and then I'm gonna do the Woodward Dream Cruise with my dad. I hope he'll enjoy it after all the hard work he did on this truck.

Well I tore the old radio back out and broke it down completely. Found about 3 feet of old tape wrapped into the tape deck, so I pulled all that out and cleaned everything else up, put it back together and TADA!!!! I have cassette! Apparently all of my speaker problems were related to the FM tuner too, because the cassette plays all the speakers great! A tad scratchy but great!

I put a flatbed on my 78 c10

the bed was side swiped on both side and cratered in.

I picked up this flat bed and figured it would be a nice home for it and make the truck a lot more useful I just use it to haul stuff and as a beater truck

I also came up with a name for the truck after putting the bed on cowboy since it looks like a cowboy truck now

I sacrificed an S-K wrench that has been in my tool box for years and has never been used on anything.
I was able to remove the large nut to get the brake line fitting loose.
The wrench worked perfectly when nothing else would.
