How were the bumpers actually mounted on the m1009's? I've never given much thought to it and never looked under the back of one to see.
That's a good question. Originally they all had the military "sport" bumper like the civs, but obviously with the pintle and the d-rings. I have seen few rare instances with a step bumper (might've been a unicorn or a custom job), but never how they were mounted. For original mounting, @AyWoSch Motors would be the expert on the subject, as he's dealt with this on his M1009. I believe there's like a door striker-esque contraption for the torsion rod on the bottom of the tailgate to curl around. Having a hell of a time figuring it all out. Considering just eliminated the torsion rod entirely and muscling the tailgate like a man in the future. All it's been doing is scratching the living hell out of tail pan.
All i got is the bumper and brackets from an M1008, seem like it'll work but will just need some doing.
