How were the bumpers actually mounted on the m1009's? I've never given much thought to it and never looked under the back of one to see.

That's a good question. Originally they all had the military "sport" bumper like the civs, but obviously with the pintle and the d-rings. I have seen few rare instances with a step bumper (might've been a unicorn or a custom job), but never how they were mounted. For original mounting, @AyWoSch Motors would be the expert on the subject, as he's dealt with this on his M1009. I believe there's like a door striker-esque contraption for the torsion rod on the bottom of the tailgate to curl around. Having a hell of a time figuring it all out. Considering just eliminated the torsion rod entirely and muscling the tailgate like a man in the future. All it's been doing is scratching the living hell out of tail pan.

All i got is the bumper and brackets from an M1008, seem like it'll work but will just need some doing.

Over the last few weekends I’ve been picking away at little things that aren’t really noticeable;

• putting loom over exposed wiring
• added a deflector to my air cleaner
• reman steering gear box
• plug wire routing / brackets
• block off plate in the radio opening to hold an AFR gauge and brake line lock

Bumper is on just chipping away hoping to get a drive in before the salt flies. The bed still needs wood put in it before I can put the rear back together.

What did you use as a block off plate? I’ve been thinking about doing the same. There used to be a plastics supplier in town but I think they closed their doors.

It’s a sheet of plastic I found at Lowe’s or Home Depot, smooth on one side and textured on the other. The texture is similar to the bezel so I like it, I used pvc glue on the plate with the fuel gauge at the lower left where the a/c vent was. Gluing this bigger piece will be a little tricky as the bezel is a tiny bit warped at the hole so I’ll have to clamp/sandwich them together all before the glue sets.

Truck started sputtering randomly when driving around and found 2 kinks in the feed line coming out of the fuel pump so I substituted someone else's jank for a bit of my own lol I think I have a metal fuel line somewhere but this did solve the issue meanwhile yes that's a socket I used to make a flair

Finally got the steering column installed. Now I need to plug in the connectors. I know that the harness was routed around the column and taped at the factory. cut back some of the firewall pad but if someone what to get down there and look go ahead.

route some more wiring, reinstall the brake booster, then the wheel tub and clamshell for the truck harness will get installed.

Got my first ticket today. I thought the speedometer was 5mph fast, that and I was picking up speed to get up a big hill (engine needs help lol). Guess I hit 80 on the speedometer AND tested after the ticket....gauge is dead on.

He was nice enough after my explanation to drop it to 5mph over.

This means I've been doing 85 on the interstate (70mph speed limit) and let off a bit when I see the law.

I do the same thing. My speedometer is off. Bigger wheels and no adjustment to the speedo.
