Got the intake manifold swapped out from a stock iron unit to an edelbrock performer. Also got the wideband swapped out finally for one that works. Turns out I'm idling a bit rich, cruise is pretty much right on stoich and full throttle is SUPER LEAN. Like, starts at 14.9 when the secondaries open up and only gets worst as the RPM climbs until the pinging starts kind of bad. Ordered some DA secondary rods to hopefully rectify the situation. Makes a lot of sense why it couldn't get out of its own way when pulling a grade with the trailer on it. I also just got an APT adjustment tool in the mail, so I'm hoping that when the weather calms down later this week I can take a few hours and go dial in the cruise vacuum advance, cruise AFR, and WOT AFR so that she rips.

Thanks, but they were on there already, I’m pretty sure they’re relatively new because we had to take the plastic off them when we converted to power steering. I’m going to change the suspension in the back end eventually so might actually go some red boys all round. That’ll pop more with the green. Give it a nice Christmas feel.

Installed the new speedo cable and cleaned up the truck a bit since the tire shop put the dirty rims on the outside getting ready to take her on another trip to the mountains :cool:

Full front brake job. The only thing I reused was the wheel bearings, and only after a good cleaning and repacking. So new pads, calipers, rotors, hoses, and I even bought 16 new lug nuts. A couple of them were pretty tight when I'd pulled them off and on in the past and I figured with new rotors came new studs, and I should put new nuts on those studs. Now they all run on and off properly.

I was given an old set of Raybestos pads for the truck a few years ago from a friend who found them cleaning out his garage. They are PG plus line and are riveted. As I was installing them I thought that I could not remember the last time I ordered brake pads and was offered Raybestos. Not sure when the last time was I saw new riveted pads either. Anyone know if Raybestos still around?

Oh and it was cool out this morning and I had to flip on the defrosters this morning I thought I smelled a little coolant. Confirmed trace amounts of coolant on the heater box so I'll be doing that on Monday I suppose.....
I wanted to rotate the tires and clean and adjust the rear brakes when I did the front. So after work tonight at the shop I decided I would get that done. Well I did get the tire rotation done, but I also discovered the rear shoes only have about 1/32nd left before the rivets will hit the drums.... And the LR wheel cylinder is seeping.... I guess I need to decide ASAP if I'm going to swap the rear end or keep this one... I guess I'm better off knowing than not but gee.

On good note the A/C had no problem keeping up in the 90+ weather this afternoon.

guessing you know with eddy's start low on fuel pressure and work ur way up. 3-4 psi.
I don't have an edelbrock carb... hence the talk about adjusting APT and putting in DA secondary rods. Stock block mounted fuel pump and the original rebuilt quadrajet being fed with an OEM steel 3/8" fuel line FTW.

Getting prepped for next plow season. While repairing and painting the body I decided to remove the running boards. They were a safety hazard with snow covered boots. Still needed a step to assist the climb in.
Came up w/ this. A piece of perforated plate and some angle. Right now its spring loaded, just need to design a cocking mechanism. Stores under the body and pops out. Thru on the cowboy grab for looks & comfort.

I guess the tire guy thought your rims needed a rotation while he was at it... lol

Truck looks really nice with them new shoes on and all washed and ready to roll!

Hello all GMSB Buddies!

Moving very, very slow.
Still waiting on parts for the front axles.

Cleaned and painted front calipers.
I like to clean by electrolysis. It really removes all the crud and rust.
